Very Small Table (2)

A 2-person table fits nicely onto a small 4 x 6 ft rug that's round, square, or rectangular.

Small Table (4)

For a 4-person table, opt for a 5 x 8 ft area rug. If your table is round, make sure the legs of your chairs are also on the rug.

Medium Table (6)

Frame your 6-person table (chairs included) with a 7 x 10 ft area rug.

Large Table (8+)

An 8-person table requires a large 9 x 12 ft area rug. This ensures that the entire seating area is well demarkated and that the chairs remain on the rug, even when pulled back.

Small Island/Counter

To accommodate (and complement) your limited space, place a small 2 x 3 ft rug in front of the sink.

Long Island/Counter

Opt for a long kitchen rug or hallway runner that can be placed alongside the length of your counter.

Medium Kitchen

This format looks great in front of an armchair or loveseat and allows you to section out your cozy reading space. This size tends to be rectangular, but can also be round.

4 x 6 ft

Use this size to cover the main floor area of a small living room.

In a medium-sized living room, this style fits nicely beneath a coffee table or in front of a loveseat or couch (your furniture's legs should remain off the rug).

5 x 8 ft

This size is perfect for a small or medium-sized living room. In this case, the front legs of your furniture (armchairs, couches, loveseats) should be placed upon the rug.

7 x 10 ft

This style is recommended for open-concept and large living rooms.

If you've got a central couch with two small armchairs on either side, they should be placed almost entirely on the rug.

9 x 12 ft

This format covers almost the entirety of a large living room. It delineates the space from the rest of the house.

A large couch, a coffee table, and two armchairs can easily be placed on it.

Twin Size Bed

If you place it under the bed, opt for a rug that's 5 x 8 ft in size. You can also opt for a small 2 x 3 ft or 3 x 5 ft rug placed at the foot of your bed, or alongside it.

Double Size Bed

To cover the floor beneath your bed and your two bedside tables, go with a rug that's 5 x 8 ft or 7 x 10 ft, depending on how much of the rug you'd like to have visible around your bed.

Queen Size Bed

If you'd like to cover the entire space beneath your bed and your two bedside tables, go with a rug that's 7 x 10 ft or 9 x 12 ft, depending on the amount of rug you'd like to have visible around your bed.

King Size Bed

Being the largest bed, you'll need a 9 x 12 ft rug to cover the space beneath the bed and the two bedside tables. You can also place two medium rugs on both sides of the bed.
