Artists Pam and Darren Gerbrandt, both of whom love trees and are sensitive to their history and importance in life's balance, decided to pay tribute to them through images. Their workshop's history took root with a large, century-old oak tree growing in front of their neighbour's house. One day, a pruning team mistakenly cut it down because it had been given the wrong address. Needless to say, this loss shook the neighbourhood. When their neighbour moved out, leaving them the remains of this giant tree, Pam and Darren chose to honour its life by immortalizing its imprint as a gift to their friend who had moved to Vancouver Island. The couple now creates majestic graphic prints using tree trunk slices recovered from many wood species, shapes, and origins. Each work of art is printed by hand in small batches, becoming a unique celebration of nature in our own settings.
