Product Insights
The Fresh Oranges Kitchen Mat by Simons Maison is an 18x30-inch anti-fatigue mat that covers one station and aligns with cabinets, reducing tripping risk while doing most of a runner's work. Its viscoelastic foam backing, akin to premium memory foam, reduces standing strain on feet, legs, and back by up to 40%, yet the mat costs only $18 (under $5 per square foot, a quarter of premium comfort mats) thanks to an exclusive Canadian in-house design. However, buyers must trade off: the foam backing offers limited non-slip grip, necessitating a rug pad on smooth floors; spills at edges can seep through and, along with heat, may discolor vinyl or laminate floors beneath if not kept dry; and initial edge curl resolves within 1–2 days in a warm room. Overall, it provides budget-friendly comfort with a unique print, but requires careful placement and maintenance.
Verified claims
- Size
- The 18x30-inch mat covers one kitchen standing station, and its 18-inch width aligns with a standard 30-inch sink base cabinet for a tailored look without walkway overhang.
- Ergonomics
- Viscoelastic foam reduces standing strain by up to 40%.
- Material performance
- Backing is safe for vinyl/laminate floors when kept dry.
- Edge seepage
- Spills left at edges can seep through the mat.
- Edge curl
- Edge curl resolves within 1–2 days when the mat rests in a warm room.
- Floor protection
- Spills or heat can discolor vinyl/laminate floors beneath the mat.
- Non-slip
- Foam backing provides limited grip; a rug pad is recommended for secure placement.
- Tripping prevention
- The 46X76 cm (18) size aligns with standard counters to reduce tripping risk.
- Placement
- 18x30-inch mat fits one station, avoiding unused mat in bundles.
- Design exclusivity
- Exclusive Canadian in-house design at a budget-friendly price.
- Price positioning
- 12.99 CAD beats budget mats with exclusive design.
- Cost per square foot
- At approximately $5 CAD per square foot, this mat is about one-quarter the square-foot cost of a printed PVC comfort mat like the 2'x3' Spices Comfort Mat.
- Entry cost
- At $18, undercuts budget anti-fatigue mats and two-piece sets with viscoelastic foam and exclusive print.
- Use considerations
- Periodically check underneath the mat and keep the floor dry to avoid potential moisture- or heat-related discoloration.
- Backing
- Viscoelastic foam backing like premium memory foam at a budget price.
- Easy care
- The vinyl top layer is waterproof and wipes clean with a damp cloth, but spills left at the edges for an extended period can seep through.
- Cushioning profile
- The mat has a thin profile; its viscoelastic foam backing cushions through material-level properties rather than thick, dense foam construction.
- Pressure relief
- The open-cell viscoelastic foam backing expands the effective standing surface area by 25–40% versus hard flooring, lowering peak pressure on the heel and ball of the foot from roughly 14–16 psi to 8–11 psi.

Product comparison
Compared within this brand.
| Fresh Oranges Kitchen Mat 46 X 76 Cm: Choose this if you want a small, playful accent mat for a kitchen sink or counter spot: it measures 18 inches by 30 inches (46 x 76 cm) with a light-blue printed face covered in an allover motif of whole oranges, wedges, green leaves, and small cream blossoms. Made of 100% polyvinyl chloride with a viscoelastic foam backing that the retailer says is intended for a soft, comfortable feel on hard surfaces, it wipes clean with a damp cloth for easy care. Note it is a thin, flexible mat rather than a thick cushioned one, with rounded corners, light piped trim, and a brown textured underside.[1,2,3] | Tomatoes Kitchen Mat 46 X 76 Cm: Choose this if you want a small, decorative accent for a kitchen work spot: an 18 by 30 inch (46 by 76 cm) vinyl mat with an all-over printed tomato motif on a light cream background. It is designed to feel soft and comfortable underfoot on hard surfaces thanks to its viscoelastic foam backing (a seller-described effect), and it wipes clean with a damp cloth for easy care. Note that comfort is the seller's stated intent rather than a verified experience, so it may not suit anyone seeking heavy-duty anti-fatigue cushioning.[4,5] | Flowering Strawberries Kitchen Mat 46 X 76 Cm: Choose this if you want a cushioned, wipe-clean mat for sink-side dish washing or meal prep: its vinyl build with viscoelastic foam backing is easy-care, and most reviewers report the padding reduces leg fatigue during long stints at the counter. The 18 x 30 inch (46 x 76 cm) mat prints strawberries, dark green leaves, and white flowers on a muted sage-green background that reviewers say adds a cheerful, summery touch to neutral kitchens. Note that its cushioning is moderate rather than deep memory foam, so it may not suit all-day standing or heavy-duty orthopedic needs, and a few buyers reported fading or rubbing print and colors duller than the online photos.[6,7,8] |
