Product Insights

The Mesh Ring by Tom Wood reimagines a solid signet as an open, angular lattice that maintains a 16mm visual heft while reducing hand fatigue for daily comfort, and its lightweight design stacks naturally as a versatile anchor. However, the rhodium plating lasts only 6–12 months with daily wear and may develop casting defects (replaced free but care extends durability), the ring cannot be resized, and its sale price nears solid sterling silver rings despite the plating's lesser durability, requiring delicate maintenance and careful shipping.

Verified claims

Design lineage
Light, angular open lattice preserves 16mm signet width
Weight
Visual heft of a 16mm signet with reduced hand fatigue
Minimal design
Tom Wood's designs are described as stylish and minimal.
Durability
Rhodium plating lasts 6-12 months with daily wear; some units develop spotting from casting defects.
Maintenance
Clean with soft cloth, warm water, mild soap; avoid ultrasonic cleaners and abrasives.
Value
Sale price of $279.95 CAD puts it close to solid sterling silver rings, yet plating is less durable.
Resizing
Ring cannot be resized without damaging the plating and structure.
Comfort
Buyers report the ring is comfortable, and the hollow openwork construction keeps it lightweight despite the 16mm signet width.
Sizing
Available in Medium (US 6.5), Large (7), and X-Large (8); resizing not possible.
Stacking
Open lattice design stacks naturally without bulk, serving as a versatile anchor.
Design evolution
Redesign of Tom Wood's solid Cushion signet, replacing bulk with an open lattice.
Wearability
Lightweight open mesh provides daily comfort and architectural minimalist appeal.
Plating defects
Some units develop spots from plating defects; Tom Wood customer service has replaced a defective ring for at least one buyer.
Fit
Comfortable fit, but the continuous 16mm signet design makes resizing difficult and often impossible without damaging the structure and plating.
Care
Clean with soft cloth and mild soap; avoid polish and harsh chemicals; store separately.
Quality
Rhodium-plated recycled 925 sterling silver prone to plating defects; requires delicate care.
Design appeal
Buyers report the open lattice design sits comfortably with balanced weight.
Sizing
Tom Wood's size chart lists inner diameters for the Mesh Ring: Medium 16.5mm (US 6.5), Large 17.3mm (US 7), X-Large 18.1mm (US 8); exact circumferences should be checked on the brand's official chart.

  • Recommendation for Tom Wood minimal rings

Only jewellery I really wear is rings so maybe I’m a bit limited but apart from the brands you’ve mentioned Tom Wood is great, especially for minimal styles.

  • User experiences plating defect on Tom Wood ring, praises design but notes quality issues

I definitely bought into the hype for sure. It’s a consumer facing brand, minimal branding and simple designs that I enjoy. All things considered it does sit very nicely on the fingers and don’t feel overly heavy or too light. Has a great shape too and doesn’t envelop my hands or stand out too much. Just wished the quality was as good as their design.

  • Advice on lost/stolen Tom Wood ring during return

Was the parcel opened? Did you insure it when you sent it by post/courier? Did you pay with a credit card with insurance? First step is to call the service you sent it with and report the item as lost or stolen. I had a pair of gold earrings i purchased stolen in the mail. The sender didn’t insure the item, which made it vulnerable. I ended up getting a refund through the credit card company because the item never arrived.
