This pure-cotton camisole by Rick Owens is a sheer, fitted top with a raw-edge boat neckline, thin straps, an opaque bust band, and ties at the front. It is made in Italy from fine 100% cotton knit and has a centre back seam. Primarily used for layering, it is notably very thin, semi-transparent, and fragile; reviews indicate it stretches and can develop holes with wear.

Product Insights

The Sheer Cotton Cami embodies Rick Owens’ philosophy of honest construction and autobiographical damage with a raw-edge neckline and visible centre back seam, crafted in Italy from 100% cotton that is more sheer and matte than the silk/viscose version but fragile—develops holes and stretches permanently while the raw edge stays intact. At $99.95, it is the cheapest Rick Owens top, over 50% less than the next, offering a tradeoff of fragility for a unique patina. Sizing up provides looser fit, the raw boat neckline and no side seams prevent bunching when layered, and care requires machine wash delicate, lay flat, and steam. The raw edges curl and soften with wear, layering protects the fabric, and the piece develops a lived-in look—currently out of stock.

Verified claims

Philosophy
Raw-edge neckline and exposed centre back seam reflect Owens' philosophy of honest construction and autobiographical damage.
Material
100% cotton; sheerness and matte finish are more extreme than the silk/viscose version.
Value
The sheer cotton knit is fragile—it develops holes and stretches permanently—while the raw neckline softens and curls rather than disintegrating.
Construction
The centre back seam is left visible and the neckline is raw-cut.
Fit
Sizing up provides a looser, more comfortable fit.
Layering
The raw boat neckline has no binding or facing, so it lies flat under sheer blouses and jackets; the cami is made with a single centre back seam instead of side seams for a cleaner second-skin line.
Care
Machine wash in a garment bag on delicate, lay flat to dry, and steam instead of iron.
Wear longevity
The raw-edge neckline develops a lived-in look with wear, and the cami is designed to be layered under jackets or sheer outerwear.
Price entry
At $99.95, it is the cheapest Rick Owens top—over 50% less than the next option.
Craftsmanship
Made in Italy with intentional raw-edge construction.
Edge patina
Raw boat neckline curls and softens with wear, creating a unique patina.
Design details
The centre back seam is stitched with heavy thread and left exposed, while the raw-edge boat neckline softens and curls with wear.
Styling
Because the fine, sheer cotton knit is virtually transparent, wearing the cami over a black lace bralette or tonal bandeau turns the sheerness into a deliberate design detail.
Opacity
The fine, sheer 100% cotton knit has a dry, non-reflective surface that makes the black read slightly more opaque by absorbing ambient light, even though it is sheer to near-total transparency.
Value for money
Community consensus is that this cami is overpriced for its delicate material, but it can be worthwhile on sale or for buyers set on the Rick Owens aesthetic.

Source Threads

  • General consensus on thin, fragile, overpriced Rick tanks

Honestly depends on your taste. They’re very very thin and fragile and they will most likely hug your body. If you’re happy looking at your torso naked then you’ll probably like them. They just put a thin veil over your body. People can see right through them when light hits them. They’re a pain to wash but hug your skin so they do get pretty filthy. They are ridiculously priced for what they are. If that’s the look you want then that’s up to you to decide if you can afford it. I love mine but I’d hesitate to recommend them. They stretch a lot as well

  • Dickflap tank is best for layering

Middle one easiest to wear when u dont hav much other rick to layer. Otherwise dickflap most useable for layering

    u/Combat_Pigeonr/RickowensView thread →

  • Silk viscose more durable than 100% cotton dickflaps

Silk viscose ribbed are surprisingly more durable. 100% cotton have developed frayed edges and mini holes formed from various snags.
