Racerback Elongated Cami
This Rick Owens racerback elongated cami is a sheer, lightweight top made in Italy from 100% cotton with a fine weave. It has a long, slim fit, crew neck, racerback design with vertical back seaming, and a pronounced rounded raw hem. User reviews note the fabric is extremely thin and see-through, prone to stretching and developing holes even with careful hand washing; it is best treated as a delicate layering piece.

Product Insights
The Rick Owens Racerback Elongated Cami is a deliberately sheer, elongated layering piece designed to peek out from cropped outerwear or tuck into high-waisted bottoms, featuring a signature vertical back seam and raw hem that ensure a flat, second-skin fit. Its main tradeoff: the thin cotton is see-through and prone to holes even with careful washing, requiring hand washing and drying flat to minimize damage, while the silk viscose option offers more durability but less stretch. Community values it at $135-160 CAD, lower than its $199.95 price, due to its layering-only utility and fragility.
Verified claims
- Sizing
- Runs tight and body-hugging; size up for a looser fit, or choose the silk viscose version for a less stretchy, more fitted silhouette.
- Styling
- The elongated length and rounded raw hem suggest it is designed to be worn untucked, but the slim fit allows it to be tucked into high-waisted bottoms if desired; the sheer cotton is intended for layering rather than standalone wear.
- Construction
- Vertical back seam and raw hem ensure a flat, second-skin fit.
- Sheerness
- See-through in any color; designed as a layering piece and not intended to be worn standalone.
- Care
- Hand wash cold, press don't wring, dry flat to minimize holes and dye loss.
- Durability
- Thin cotton is prone to holes; raw hem frays intentionally; silk viscose is more durable.
- Fray control
- Apply Fray Check to raw edges to control fraying.
- Repair
- Small holes can be mended by darning or using ultra-light fusible web.
- Value
- 100% cotton, sheer breathable; silk viscose denser, more durable.
- Fit
- Cotton stretches for a body-hugging fit; silk viscose holds shape.
- Fair price
- Community values at $135-160 CAD versus the $199.95 CAD price.
- Raw hem
- The raw hem lies flat for invisible layering and develops a fringed patina over time.
- Vertical seam
- The single vertical back seam is Rick Owens' signature spine seam that provides structural integrity and ensures straight hang.
- Elongated silhouette
- The cami is deliberately extended below the hip to mirror the runway silhouette and layer under cropped outerwear.
- Layering
- Designed as a sheer layering piece that peeks out beneath cropped outerwear or tucks into high-waisted bottoms.
- Cotton vs silk viscose
- The cotton version is thinner, more breathable, and more prone to developing holes; the silk viscose version has a better drape and is slightly more durable, though both are delicate.
- Value for money
- Most buyers consider the cami overpriced at full retail but worth it on sale or secondhand for the unique fit and feel.
- Provenance
- Made in Italy.

Overall thoughts on Rick tanks: fragile, tight, pricey but loved
Honestly depends on your taste. They’re very very thin and fragile and they will most likely hug your body. If you’re happy looking at your torso naked then you’ll probably like them. They just put a thin veil over your body. People can see right through them when light hits them. They’re a pain to wash but hug your skin so they do get pretty filthy. They are ridiculously priced for what they are. If that’s the look you want then that’s up to you to decide if you can afford it. I love mine but I’d hesitate to recommend them. They stretch a lot as well

Ownership experience: cotton dickflaps are most used but fragile
I have two white ones, probably my most used Rick pieces. I wash and dry them in garment bags and they still get holes in them because the cotton is super thin. The fit is better than any other tank I’ve had, something about the way it hugs the chest and drapes that I really like. You can usually find them for $100-120 during sales.
