Quality issues with black Levi's Dad jeans
I’ve seen this exact issue with the Dad jeans ripping in reviews on Aritzia, Urban Outfitters, and Revolve! Strangely enough a lot of people mention the black ones specifically. I have a blue pair and fortunately haven’t had any issues with ripping or tears. I can’t seem to find reviews that mention the blue pair ripping either. Seems like a manufacturing issue, but I have no idea why it only seems to impact this colorway.

Sizing dilemma and stretch in Levi's Dad Jeans
Size 25 - a bit snug on the hip and thigh but still comfortable, little gaping at the back, very flattering on the bum, not as baggy on the thighs (so I feel like it may look more like mom jeans??) Size 26 - more comfortable overall, gaping all over the waist (would have to take it in), less flattering on the bum, looks more like the model (true dad jean vibes) If anyone has these, do they stretch out overtime? Let me know what you guys think!! (My measurements for reference: 5’3, XS/S in Aritzia) EDIT: Ended up going with the 25. They do stretch out with wear to a nice loose fit, a nice in between of size 25 and 26 :)

Detailed advice on Levi's Dad Jeans from former Aritzia employee
I have these jeans in multiple colors. At most they stretch about half a size and as soon as you wash them, they go right back to the way they were when you bought them. Because there is no natural stretch I wouldn’t get it super snug or it may actually bother your crotch (tbh). They are higher rise than the baggy dad by about half an inch or so. Less baggy throughout the leg more like a true straight leg, where the baggy dad is more of a wide leg. I find a light blue to be a lot more comfortable than the black. The black almost feels thicker and more rigid and the slightest bit tighter (which is common as denim gets darker in colour) and I always leaned for the light blue pair, especially with spring rolling. But I guess it also depends on how you want to wear them. I know people who go up two sizes because they want a baggier fit. Out of all the dad jeans these ones are my favorite.
