Product Insights
The Triple Ring by Twenty Compass is a 14K gold-plated 316L stainless steel ring priced at $55 CAD. Its core promise is an affordable gold look with a hypoallergenic, tarnish-free steel base that remains silver-toned after the plating wears. The main tradeoff is the plating's limited lifespan—6–12 months with daily wear, extendable to 1–3 years with careful maintenance—and a return policy that offers only store credit with buyer-paid shipping for defective plating.
Verified claims

- Care and maintenance
- Avoiding water, lotions, and gym wear can significantly extend plating life.
- Return policy
- Buyers report returns for defective plating result in store credit and buyer‑paid shipping.

- Size up to an 8 for the 7mm wide band if between ring sizes.
- Price comparison
- At $55 CAD, double competing rings but with specified 14K gold plating.
- Plating longevity
- Buyers report plating wears after first wear; daily lifespan 6–12 months.
- Band width
- 7 mm width fits snugger than thinner bands; may need sizing up.

Deep Research
Triple band fit and all-day comfort
- With a 7mm span across the finger, the triple ring acts as a wide band — jewelers caution that wider rings feel significantly snugger than a thin band of the same labeled size, so anyone between sizes should choose the size 8 for a comfortable fit that still passes the knuckle.
How long gold plating lasts on stainless steel
- Ring bands sit in the highest‑friction zone on the body; daily contact with fingers, surfaces, and water produces micro‑scratches that scatter light and cause the gold layer to thin visibly within 6–12 months of active daily wear, compared to 1–3 years for a necklace experiencing the same plating.
- Simply alternating the ring with other jewelry and storing it in a soft cloth pouch when not worn reduces accumulated sweat, friction, and chemical contact — this alone can shift its effective lifespan from the 'daily active' bracket into the 'regular casual' tier, doubling the time before the gold layer shows visible wear.
- 14K gold (58.3% pure) is physically harder than 18K or 24K gold because of its alloy blend, so a 14‑karat plated ring resists micro‑scratches and surface dulling better than higher‑karat plated equivalents under daily friction — a material advantage that extends the visible shine of this ring over an 18K‑plated version.
- The 316L surgical‑grade stainless steel base does not tarnish or react with skin — when the gold eventually thins, the exposed metal stays a uniform silver‑white tone rather than turning green or black as brass or copper bases would, so the ring remains wearable even after significant plating loss.
- Gold-plated stainless steel lifespan clusters by wear intensity: 1–3 years for regular casual wear (office, removed at night) and 6–12 months for daily active use (gym, handwashing), with occasional-wear pieces lasting 5+ years — so a daily-worn ring sits in the most demanding tier, making 6–12 months a realistic projection before thinning becomes noticeable.
Price and value against similar triple rings
- Where Lovisa’s and Accessorize’s comparable triple rings are simply described as ‘gold plated’ without a karat number and Inaya goes up to 18K, Twenty Compass’s explicit 14-carat gold plating sits in the middle — giving the buyer a defined metric for colour warmth and plating grade that is absent from the lowest-priced competition while avoiding the cost of an 18K plate.
- Priced at £24 (approximately $41 CAD), Accessorize’s triple ring is PVD-coated for waterproof daily wear and weighs just 4.5g, making it a lighter piece than what the Twenty Compass ring’s 7mm width suggests — a $14 CAD premium buys a more substantial feel and the confidence of a specific gold carat.
- The Inaya ring retails for 1,699 INR (around $27 CAD) and uses an 18K gold plate on stainless steel with a bolder 10.7mm band width — nearly 50% wider than the Twenty Compass ring’s 7mm — so the higher gold purity and lower price come with a chunky, statement-first aesthetic rather than the delicate stacking profile the Twenty Compass ring offers.
- Lovisa’s comparable triple ring is priced at $29.99 AUD (about $27 CAD) and uses a stainless steel base with PVD-coated gold plating, but its listing omits the plating karat — for shoppers comparing across tiers, the Twenty Compass ring’s stated 14-carat gold plating offers a more granular material quality signal at roughly double the cost.

Love love this ring!!
That’s right I absolutely love this ring. I’ve been looking at this brands website for a while and always wanting to buy. I saw here on Simon’s and of course the faster shipping so I bought and it did not disappoint. This is my most favourite ring!!
Q&A
6 answered- How thick is the gold plating on this ring?
- The product listing does not specify the plating thickness, but typical gold-plated fashion jewelry ranges from 0.5 to 1 micron. As the plating is thin, handle with care to minimize wear.
- Is the stainless steel base hypoallergenic?
- Yes, the stainless steel base is surgical-grade (typically 316L) and hypoallergenic, making it safe for most sensitive skin. However, the gold plating may rarely cause reaction in those with metal allergies.
- How does the sizing run compared to standard US ring sizes?
- This ring is listed as size 7, which matches standard US ring sizing. We have no reports indicating it runs large or small, so we recommend ordering your usual size.
- Can this ring be resized?
- Resizing is not recommended for this ring. The gold plating and stainless steel base make resizing difficult without damaging the finish or structural integrity, so we suggest ordering the correct size from the start.
- What is the recommended care to prevent the gold plating from fading?
- To preserve the gold plating, avoid contact with water, lotions, perfumes, and harsh chemicals. Remove before swimming, showering, or exercising. Store in a dry cloth pouch and gently wipe with a soft cloth after each wear.
- Is Twenty Compass jewelry worth buying?
- Based on the comments, most users found the quality poor and customer service unhelpful, though one had a positive experience with a necklace.

Negative experience with Twenty Compass rings and customer service
Really bad quality of gold. Their plated product goes off after the first time I wear them. I bought two different rings, both really cheap. Really disappointed from their products and the customer services. Even if they admit that their products have a default, they would not want to refund me. They wanted me to return the product and give me a store credit. Which is all on the customer to paid for their poor quality product and shipping. Would not recommend to anyone. Be careful, it has been time consuming to try to deal with them
