Product Insights
This handwoven wool rug (90% wool, 10% cotton) offers a monochromatic low-pile design that provides styling versatility for varied interiors, grounding furniture and harmonizing with natural materials while offering warm/cool undertone choices for matching. Its natural performance includes biodegradability, fire resistance, VOC-free off-gassing, self-extinguishing at high temperatures, impact noise reduction up to 30 dB, and thermal insulation, with renewable wool that repels dirt via lanolin. The low pile ensures crisp pattern edges, furniture stability, door clearance, smooth movement, and safe layering over flatweave rugs. The main tradeoff is initial shedding that diminishes after weeks of vacuuming with a suction-only head; care requires suction-only vacuuming, prompt blotting, and annual professional cleaning.
Verified claims
- Handwoven signature
- This rug is handwoven, not hand-tufted or machine-made; subtle weave variations confirm handwoven construction, and handwoven wool pile is generally denser and longer-lived than hand-tufted pile, with shedding that subsides over time.
- Natural performance
- Handwoven from 90% wool and 10% cotton, the rug is biodegradable and naturally fire-resistant.
- Styling versatility
- Monochromatic low-pile design serves as a neutral foundation for varied interior palettes.
- Safety
- Wool does not off-gas VOCs, and its high nitrogen and water content makes it self-extinguishing without melting or dripping; its ignition point is 570–600°C, nearly double that of cotton.
- Comfort
- Woven wool rugs reliably achieve a sound absorption NRC of 0.40–0.42, comparable to commercial acoustic ceiling tiles, and dense wool rugs can reduce impact noise by 25–30 dB; wool's keratin structure also provides natural thermal insulation.
- Sustainability
- Renewable wool with lanolin dirt repellency and low-energy handmade production.
- Shedding
- Some initial shedding is typical for this wool rug and usually diminishes after a few weeks of suction-only vacuuming, but a few buyers report heavier, longer-lasting shedding that spreads fibers around the home.
- Placement
- Low pile allows door clearance, furniture stability, and smooth chair movement.
- Maintenance
- Low pile resists matting and doesn't trap debris deep in the fibers, but the sculpted grooves can catch surface dirt that needs targeted vacuuming; the tightly woven surface also minimizes dust and allergen accumulation.
- Pattern sharpness
- Low pile preserves crisp edges on the sculpted concentric arcs and linear grooves created by pile-height contrast by reducing fiber blur.
- Layering
- Low pile enables safe, non-bulky layering over flatweave rugs.
- Design role
- The monochrome pattern grounds furniture, harmonizes with natural materials, and offers warm/cool color choices for undertone matching.
- Undertone matching
- Available in three neutral colorways: Light Grey, Off White, and Ivory/Cream Beige. Light Grey suits cool room finishes; Ivory/Cream Beige suits warm finishes; Off White works as a warm-neutral option.
- Care
- Vacuum regularly with a suction-only or brushless setting, blot spills immediately with a clean cloth and mild wool-safe detergent without rubbing, schedule professional cleaning annually, and rotate periodically to even out wear and fading.
- Setup
- Pair with a rug pad on hardwood; low pile suits doors, furniture, and layering; pick undertones to match decor.
- End-of-life sustainability
- The wool fiber is biodegradable, making this rug a more sustainable long-term purchase than synthetic alternatives.
- Hardwood-floor safety
- The rug's backing is not specified as non-slip, so a rug pad is strongly recommended to prevent slipping and protect hardwood floors from scratches.
- Tactile softness
- Buyers describe the wool as so much softer than synthetic rugs from big-box stores.
- Initial odor
- Some buyers notice a slight wool smell at first.
- Pile height
- Exact pile height is not published; the rug is specified only as low pile. Low-pile rugs typically measure roughly 5–10 mm, which clears standard interior doors without catching.

This cotton-wool blend rug is marketed for elevating indoor spaces with its modern, artisanal look, and the merchant recommends a rug pad underneath for greater safety. | Winding Contrast Wool Artisanal Rug See Available Sizes: Choose this if you want a handwoven, low-pile indoor rug with a sculpted, highly textured pattern in a monochromatic palette, made of a 90% wool and 10% cotton blend that customers praise for its wool quality. It comes in four sizes (roughly 150 x 230 cm up to 275 x 365 cm) and three neutral colorways, including Light Grey, Off White, and Ivory/Cream Beige. Note that reviewers report continuous shedding even after repeated vacuuming, a texture that traps dirt and needs thorough cleaning, a temporary initial wool smell, and a rug pad is recommended for greater safety.[1] | Discontinuous Stripe Wool Artisanal Rug See Available Sizes: Choose this if you want a plush, natural-fibre rug with a modern neutral look: it is made of tufted wool (70% wool, 30% cotton with a cotton back), handmade in India, and features a textured chunky loop weave with discontinuous horizontal stripes in cream, beige, and brown tones. It comes in three sizes (150x240 cm, 240x300 cm, and 270x360 cm) in Grey or Off White, so it can suit larger living areas. Note that because it is artisanally made, each piece is unique and slight variations in size and colour should be expected, and the listed variants do not confirm a 270x360 cm Off White option.[2,3] | Herringbone-Stripe Wool Artisanal Rug See Available Sizes: Choose this if you want a handmade, tufted wool rug (70% wool, 30% cotton) with a neutral herringbone-stripe pattern in grey or off white, sized from 150 x 240 cm up to 270 x 360 cm, whose soft, plush pile reviewers say feels gentle underfoot and anchors living rooms. Plan on a non-slip rug pad, since its backing is slick on hard floors, and expect noticeable wool shedding—especially when new—on socks and floors until frequent vacuuming brings it under control.[4] |

Wow! Amazing quality
First time getting a wool rug. Beautiful. So much softer than store bought plastic rugs from big box stores. Wool is so much better. Has a bit of a smell at first. Well worth the purchase!.
Just kept shedding
The carpet looked nice enough. But it was covered in loose fibers when it arrived. I vacuumed it three times. It still kept shedding these little pieces of carpet. When I did my weekly vacuum the dirt would get stuck in the pattern of the carpet. Annoying and not practical.
Ruined our living room brutal shedding
The carpet will gets all over your clothes, completely that you have to change your pants. The wool is going everywhere all over the house. Gets all over everything! a nice colour and design but honestly not worth it
