Product Insights
The Saxx Bass Micro-Dotwork Boxer Brief offers a patented self-locating pouch that prevents chafing and stays in place during activity, with no-ride-up legs and breathable mesh for comfort, but the pouch support weakens after washes and the seam often fails within a year, making the $38 price poor value compared to cheaper alternatives like Hanes Total Support or 32 Degrees.
- Pouch comfort
Buyers say the pouch's 3D hammock prevents chafing and self-locates.
Why this is supported
The pouch is built on a patented design described as
an undergarment having an improved pouch and sidewalls for supporting genitalia and decreasing irritation due to skin-to-skin friction and chaffing.

u/Maittanee in r/BuyItForLife- Durability
After washes, the pouch loses lift and its seam often fails within a year.
Why this is supported
Over time, repeated washing reduces the pouch's structural lift. Additionally, the attachment seam is a reported weak point:

many users report holes within 6 months to a year, often at the ballpark seam.
Are Saxx Quest boxer briefs durable?- Pouch support
Buyers report BallPark Pouch support weakens after several washes.
Why this is supported
Some users report the pouch loses support:

Most find the separation feature comfortable, but some experience lack of support over time.
Is the ballpark pouch comfortable?- Value
Buyers report poor value at 38 CAD given 6-12 month lifespan vs cheaper alternatives.
Why this is supported
Given the $38 price point and short lifespan, the Quest is seen as poor value. One user noted:

Patented BallPark Pouch (US7958571B2) cannot legally be copied by competitors.
Why this is supported
SAXX's BallPark Pouch is protected under U.S. Patent 7958571B2, which describes
an undergarment having an improved pouch and sidewalls for supporting genitalia and decreasing irritation due to skin-to-skin friction and chaffing.
patents.google.comThis patent grants SAXX exclusive rights to the self-aligning 3D hammock structure, meaning lower-cost alternatives like Hanes Total Support and 32 Degrees cannot offer an identical design. The brand's founder story, started in 2006 to solve chafing, adds a purpose-driven narrative that reinforces the premium positioning.
- Sale price
Sale price 24.95 CAD undercuts many premium brands, but durability complaints are common.

Why this is supported
The Quest's sale price of 24.95 CAD brings it close to the per-unit cost of value-priced underwear like Hanes Total Support (≈20 CAD for 3) and 32 Degrees 4-packs (≈24 CAD). However, multiple Reddit reports indicate a quality decline in recent production, with pairs failing within six months due to fabric tearing near the BallPark Pouch seam. For instance, one user reported:
Holes typically develop at the BallPark Pouch seam, which is a common failure point reported by many users.

Positive feedback on Saxx comfort and ballpark pouch

Saxx Quest is favorite; alternatives exist
Saxx Quest is probably my favorite pair of Saxx underwear. If the ballpark pouch is a feature you're looking for, there are more affordable options to dip your... bills into. The Hanes Men’s Total Support comes in a 3-pack for like $20. The 32 Degrees brand can be found at Costco, and it's like the Poor Man's ExOfficio, You can get a 4 pack for like $24 on AZ.

Disappointment with Saxx quality despite ball park comfort
I wonder to see Saxx in this r/ my opinion is stil about the boxerbriefs, but the quality is the same like you get from any cheap walmart offer, beside the ball park. I was really disappointed and would not recommend Saxx, especially if you expect anything close to ExOfficio.

Mixed review: soft but unsupportive after washes
I bought a pair of Saxx briefs. Wore them once and liked them. After wearing them another half dozen times, I decided they were very soft, had good, strong elastic on leg holes, but were not very supportive of my junk, so I decided to not buy any more than the one pair.

Declining quality and durability issues with Saxx
Saxx quality has gone down in the last 5-10 years. It’s been a gradual decline but their original pairs used to last me years (>3). Recent purchases fail within 6 months where the fabric near the crotch will tear (not at the seam) and it’s impossible to patch. I no longer consider Saxx to be good value for the money they cost. It’s certainly not BIFL.
