Rippy™ Micro-Perforated Soft Cap
The Rippy Micro-Perforated Soft Cap is an ultralight running cap from Satisfy, constructed with a Japanese-developed micro-perforated stretch ripstop fabric (Rippy Air) that manages moisture, resists odours, dries quickly, and offers UV protection while maximizing water-resistance. Weighing just 24 grams (0.8 oz), it features a soft visor, a reflective logo, and an adjustable elastic drawcord with cord lock for a secure, customizable fit. Reddit users consistently praise it as one of the lightest and most breathable running hats available, though some note that sizing may run small and the standard version can feel warm in hot weather.

Product Insights
The Rippy™ Micro-Perforated Soft Cap is an ultralight running hat that vanishes on the head, providing zero-bounce stability and active ventilation through its micro-perforated Japanese ripstop fabric. It offers water repellency for light rain, quick drying, and a stealth-reflective logo for low-light visibility, but its short visor offers minimal rain protection for the face, and it is not intended for casual use or heavy rain. The cap's breathability, durability, and secure fit make it a go-to for intense runs, despite some service complaints.
Verified claims
- Adjustment
- Bungee works best when not cinched tight.
- Breathability
- Buyers report it is more breathable than the standard Rippy for hot runs.
- Durability
- Breathable micro-perforations do not compromise the cap's tear resistance.
- Weight
- Buyers report the cap vanishes on the head: no pressure points, no moisture gain, no lift, and the soft ripstop stays intact over heavy use.
- Ventilation
- Micro-perforated ripstop actively vents heat and sweat vapor, keeping the head cool during intense efforts.
- Fit
- The adjustable bungee and soft short brim lock the cap securely, preventing bounce or lift on varied terrain.
- Adjustability
- Elastic bungee cord with cord lock provides infinite adjustability and zero bounce.
- Reflector
- Logo is stealth-reflective: invisible by day, visible at night.
- Fabric
- 100% polyester Japanese ripstop fabric combines water repellency, cooling, odor control, and UV protection.
- Use case
- Intended for running and light rain; for heavy rain, users are directed to the Pertex model.
- Rain performance
- Water repellent for light rain but saturates in heavy rain; dries quickly.
- Visibility
- Stealth-reflective logo aids low-light visibility.
- Wind stability
- Bungee fit system provides zero-bounce stability during movement.
- Brand culture
- Runners celebrate the Rippy Air as a durable, go-to ultralight hat.
- Design
- Japanese-developed ripstop, stealth-reflective logo, and a minimalist shell define the cap's design.
- Visor pliability
- The short, soft visor lacks a rigid insert, making it pliable, and it absorbs less moisture than a standard brim.
- Packability
- The cap's soft, single-layer construction makes it packable and free of the crackly stiffness of waterproof caps.
- Head sizing
- The one-size cap runs small for larger heads; a 60 cm head may be tight.
- Rippy variants
- Rippy Air is thinner and more breathable with visible ventilation holes; Rippy Trail is slightly heavier and more water repellent; standard Rippy is similar to Trail but can run hot.

Rippy air trail cap praised as lightest and most breathable
Depends on head shape but the Rippy air trail cap is all I wear for running. It is the lightest and most breathable hat I own and it’s not even close.

i have a rippy air and a peace shell. rippy air is an awesome running hat, absolutely worth it imo. the peace shell is like normal hat material, not something i would run in

Detailed comparison of Rippy Air and PeaceShell Cordura
I've got both the PeaceShell Cordura Trail Caps and Rippy Air Trail Caps. Can confirm what others say, both are very durable and will last as long as you're interested in them. Functionally they fit the same/feel the same though the Rippy Airs feel every so slightly lighter and have more ventilation (you can see the holes in the hat).

Rippy Air fit and style for larger heads
I’m a 7 1/2 in fitteds and own the Rippy Air cap. I absolutely hated the way it looked on my head at first, but I started to love it after a while. I think it looks really cool when the cap is worn low. The elastic band (which is also adjustable) makes the fit of the hat really forgiving, and at least for me, the cap is definitely deep enough, it never feels like it’s gonna fall off.
