Quality wise - Carmina is the best I've ever seen or felt for my price range. It's the same I would say as my husband's AE. Leather is beautiful, supple, workmanship is perfect. Meermin is a step lower (I noticed the stitching on the soles of one was slightly crooked looking), but still very very very very good. The quality of these are lower than both. I can't give you an accurate assessment if you're used to men's shoes, but from a woman's perspective (I've only really experienced women's shoes except the brands mentioned) in my original post. I would say of a 10 point scale for under $350: * Most women's shoes: 0 * Clarks/Cole haan/Danksos/Everlane/Nisolo: 2 * Stuart Wietzman, M.Gemi, Frye: 4 * Scarosso: 6-7 * Meermin: 8-9 * Carmina: 10

Fit concerns for Scarosso suede loafers
Have you tried any of them on? Because with loafers, fit matters more than anything. I love the way C&J look, but their lasts don't fit my feet at all, making the price difference a non-issue.

Currency conversion and tax issues for non-EU orders
If you are buying outside EU; avoid at all cost! If you export outside UE you should not pay local taxes and there what they advertise, however they will charge you in your local currency at their radicilous conversion rate!

First impressions of Scarosso quality
Never heard of them before but just looked them up and they seem like decent Italian shoes for the price point. I work with my hands all day so I'm pretty picky about quality construction and from what I can see online their stitching looks solid. The leather appears genuine too which is good sign
