Leather quality and comparison to Chanel
Most, if not all, the high end fashion brands use painted leathers rather than dyed leathers. They do this because customers do not like seeing the natural "imperfections" and streaks on natural leathers. Also, you cannot get vibrant, solid colours from dyes: all your white, lilac, pink etc. handbags are painted on. Painted leathers usually get a bad reputation because companies will use inferior leather quality, since you cannot tell or feel the difference in poor quality leathers vs good quality leathers when it's painted on--unless you cut the product itself. Honestly, and this is coming from a leather worker, I prefer the painted bags over dyed ones. Dyed leathers tend to bleed, patina (most people like the patina look), and are difficult to repair in my experience. Painted leathers are more easy to maintain, repair, and come in a variety of diverse colours. There's pros and cons to both. The big fashion houses use painted leathers for this reason. I hope this information helps! Also, I love Versace and I find their quality the same, if not more, superior to the likes of Chanel. It's more of a social value thing they are seen as inferior, most likely because they have sales and therefore their resale value do not hold.

Soft leather and delicacy concerns
I've felt their Tag bag collection in person, though not this particular tote. Their leather is EXTREMELY soft. It feels super luxurious, but I would assume it is delicate. I would be very careful if you're putting heavy things in it.

Overall quality and comparison to YSL/Chloe
I have quite a few of their bags! Both vintage and moderm. They're very well made, in my opinion. They really upped their quality. I wouldn't say they're the most prestigious quality, but the fact they do frequent sales, I do think they're tied with Yves Saint Laurent/Chloe's quality... if that makes sense :) Like any other high end brand, the name does most of the heavy lifting.
