Product Insights

The xBloom Studio 5-In-1 Coffee Machine (CAD 849) combines a zero-retention, 80-step variable-speed grinder with PID temperature control and a 360° rotating spout to replicate manual pour-over consistency, using either proprietary xPods (fresh-ground beans from partner roasters at $1.80–$2.20 per cup) or own beans via app-driven recipes—though the app lacks brew history and recipe import/export, suffers from persistent bugs, and requires app use for own-bean adjustments, with slow support and delayed pod shipments. Siphon filtration eliminates paper filters, materials are BPA-free SUS316 stainless steel and Tritan, and knurled metal knobs allow full control without the app. The Studio adds an integrated 0.1g scale, direct water line, tea brewer, and community recipes, replacing separate equipment and freeing counter space, with a two-year warranty and buyers reporting identical café-quality cups daily after dial-in, but it brews only a single 8-11 oz cup at a time.

lowNFC card reading for brew recipes can be unreliable at times, requiring multiple scans.

Compared To

vs Fellow Aiden

Aiden is seen as better for batch brewing and light roasts, while xBloom's integrated grinder and pod system offer a more all-in-one convenience.

vs Moccamaster

Moccamaster is a simpler, reliable drip machine, but lacks the automated precision and grinder of the xBloom.

vs Wilfa Precision / Breville Precision Brewer

Mentioned as other high-end automatics, but xBloom targets the pour-over enthusiast specifically.

  • Mixed experience with hardware and company

The hardware is amazing. The first machine worked amazingly, and so does the studio. Were the company still operating the way it did during the Kickstarter and early days of the Original, I'd give it my enthusiastic endorsement. Now, I'm just glad the new machine has physical controls, because now I technically don't need xBloom to exist to keep using the machine.

  • xBloom community manager explains the vision

xBloom first and foremost is a pod machine designed to offer roasters the ability to have their coffees presented to consumers at home exactly the way they would like to present them. The focus is perfect consistency and ease of use with no learning curve. We want more people to buy more specialty coffee around the larger market, and the way to bridge the cap is convenience.

  • Grinder quality on par with ZP6

It's on par with my ZP6 hand grinder. You definitely aren't missing anything vs a dedicated grinder. It's really really good.

  • Pod system and recipe sharing

For coffee explorers the pod system of the xbloom is S tier and the fact that the same grinder is used makes sharing recipes actually meaningful

  • Successful dial-in and consistent cups

I went to a coffee shop and had a V60 using a coffee that was fermented in grape juice. amazing flavor but I found that the brew was on a weaker side than I like it. Bought the coffee beans. My Xbloom was 3 days old. Asked the barista the recipe he used, temperature, number of pours, bloom, ratio. Went home, grinder set at 55, water at 92C, three pours, bloom, ratio 1:16. Brewed. Measured it with the DiFluid. Was in the middle of the far right line of the SCA square. Meaning medium strength, more on the bitter side. But the flavor was there. And man, it was better than the one in the coffee shop. Tweaked the grinder to 60, perfect flavor for me and my wife. A hint of bitterness in a sea of grape flavored delicious coffee. I redid the brew every day in the past, four days. Same great taste, every day, better than the on in the shop. Love this machine.

  • Great for busy mornings with own beans

I have an Xbloom and love it. The grinder is great and once you figure out a recipe you like with it, it can just churn out great cup after great cup with my own beans.
