Product Insights
This Giant Art poster reproduces an original 1877 William Morris design held in the V&A, Cooper Hewitt, and William Morris Gallery, extending the lineage of Sanderson's 1960s commercial revival that introduced non-original colourways. The green poster modernizes the palette with an olive background and matte ink-jet finish, while the light chrysanthemums match the 1877 original. Museum-quality matte paper (acid-free, ~250 gsm) eliminates glare, resists fingerprints, and keeps details sharp; the 30x40-inch size preserves the dense pattern's intricate linework and achieves balanced wall proportion when centered over a sofa at two-thirds its width, though the 24x32-inch version allows framing with a mat. A solid wood frame with UV acrylic glazing and black finish completes the presentation.
Verified claims
- Provenance
- This poster reproduces an 1877 William Morris Chrysanthemum wallpaper design; original specimens are held in the V&A, Cooper Hewitt, and William Morris Gallery.
- Design origin
- The design originated with William Morris in 1877 and was created during his 1870s Arts and Crafts pivot to natural dyes, which rejected harsh synthetic aniline dyes.
- Commercial revival
- Sanderson's 1960s reissue created new colourways from the original printing blocks, extending the design's commercial life.
- Sizing guidance
- The 30x40-inch version preserves the design's intricate linework and achieves balanced wall proportion.
- Matting
- The 24x32-inch print is not a common off-the-shelf frame size; plan on custom framing or a larger frame with a custom-cut mat rather than a standard ready-made frame.
- Paper
- Museum-quality matte paper is typically acid-free and weighs about 250 gsm.
- Glare
- Matte paper eliminates glare and prevents stacked reflections when framed.
- Matte finish
- Resists fingerprints and keeps fine details sharp on the matte surface.
- Framing
- Select a solid wood frame with UV acrylic glazing and a black finish.
- Color accuracy
- The Patterned Green colorway places light-coloured chrysanthemum flowers on a leafy olive-green ground; the blooms align with the original William Morris wallpaper palette, but no direct colour comparison is available.
- Placement
- Choose the larger 30x40 size and center it over a sofa at two-thirds its width.
- Archival/acid-free paper
- The listing does not explicitly state the paper is archival or acid-free, though museum-quality matte paper is typically acid-free and archival.
- Paper weight (gsm)
- The paper weight is not listed for this print; museum-quality matte paper commonly weighs around 250 gsm.
- Giclée/archival qualification
- This ink-jet print on museum-quality matte paper fits the practical definition of a giclée as high-resolution inkjet printing onto archival media, but the brand does not market it as giclée and does not specify pigment vs. dye ink, so it is best considered a fine-art-style inkjet print rather than a certified giclée.
- Frame fit
- The 24 x 32 inch and 30 x 40 inch sizes are not common off-the-shelf frame sizes; buyers should plan on custom framing or a larger frame with a custom-cut mat rather than a standard ready-made frame.
- Patterned Green colourway
- The Patterned Green colorway is the leafy green background behind the light-coloured chrysanthemum blooms, not a separate alternate colour version; it is the only colour option and both the 24 x 32 and 30 x 40 sizes carry the same design.

Product comparison
Compared within this brand.
| Chrysanthemum Poster See Available Sizes: Choose this if you want a classic William Morris floral look: the design is sampled from Morris' Chrysanthemum wallpaper, with light-coloured chrysanthemums on a leafy olive-green panel and a white outer border, and the merchant describes it as adding a touch of softness to your décor. It is an ink-jet print on museum-quality matte white paper, printed in Canada, in two sizes (24 by 32 inches or 30 by 40 inches). Note that it is the art print only, so a frame is not included.[1,2] | Abstract Flower Art Print See Available Sizes: Choose this if you want a compact, modern floral piece in earthy and ecru tones, with a large pale cream flower silhouette on a solid dark brown background. It is an ink-jet print on museum-quality matte white paper, sold unframed, in vertical 24 x 32 inch (61 x 81.25 cm) or 30 x 40 inch (76.25 x 101.5 cm) sizes—so you will need your own frame. Note that the surface appears matte with subtle tonal variation, which may read differently in person than in product photos.[3,4] | Floral Vase Poster See Available Sizes: Choose this for a decorative floral accent wall piece: it shows a stylized amphora vase with flat, solid-color flowers in mustard yellow, rust red, and olive green on a muted green field, described by the merchant as modern artwork inspired by Indian art with a rich colour palette. It is an unframed ink-jet print on matte white paper (a paper the merchant characterizes as museum quality, with a listed weight of 200 gsm), available in 24 by 32 inch and 30 by 40 inch sizes, so plan to supply your own frame. The design includes printed text bands, including a title reading VASE 01 and a Ceramics collection 2022 line, which suit a graphic, poster-style look.[5,6,7] |
