Patina Kona Rust-Coloured Planter See Available Sizes
The Patina Kona is a cylindrical outdoor planter from Veradek, made from a patented plastic-steel composite that resists cracking, UV damage, and temperatures from -30°C to +50°C. It is intended for container gardening on patios or decks, and includes drainage holes and an internal shelf that lets water flow downward to prevent root rot. The planter is available in two sizes—15" diameter x 15.5" height (35.6L) and 18.5" diameter x 19.75" height (72.2L)—and owners recommend placing it in its final location before filling, as it becomes very heavy with soil.

Product Insights
The Veradek Patina Kona planter offers an authentic rust patina finish that is durable, stain-resistant, and non-structural, arriving partially rusted and evolving uniformly outdoors. Made from a 11 lb steel-plastic composite, it resists impacts, stains, and extreme temperatures, making it a lighter and cheaper alternative to Corten steel with a 5-year warranty. However, its 15-inch diameter holds only a 10-inch nursery pot, becomes heavy when filled, lacks ergonomic grips, and its internal shelf may require tools to remove, presenting a tradeoff between aesthetic appeal and planting capacity.

Ended up buying Veradek, $140 for a 3-foot long rectangular box container was too good to pass up.

Owner shares experience with Veradek planter shelf and weight
I have this exact planter. That is a shelf and it’s meant to stay under the dirt so that water can flow downward and not cause rot. I honestly don’t think you need to remove it. The shelves in mine did seem to come out easily if I remember correctly, but again, I’m not sure you should need to remove it. One tip for you… Those planters get very heavy when they’re full of dirt. You may want to put it on a coaster with wheels, or move the planter to where it’ll stay before you fill it with dirt. There’s also no good place to grab onto the planter to move it so it’s a little awkward. I do love these planters though. I have 10 I think.
