Product Insights
The Flambette Citrus And Sage Scented Candle features a wooden wick that produces a gentle crackling sound and a wider ribbon-like flame, offering a premium sensory experience. It burns up to 50 hours—30–50% longer than paraffin—using 100% pure soy wax that is renewable, biodegradable, and burns cleaner with less soot. The $24 price delivers this feature set, making it a value for a crackling wooden wick candle. The scent, a bright citrus and herbaceous sage with a soft soy-wax throw, is the brand's most consistently cited favorite and part of the permanent collection. However, the wick must be trimmed to 1/4 inch before each lighting, and the first burn must last at least one hour to prevent tunneling. The soy wax may also require a 1–2 week cure for richer scent. Hand-poured in Trois-Rivières since 2016 with local eco-responsible sourcing, the glass jar can be cleaned and reused as a planter, tumbler, or decor piece, supporting the brand's sustainable ethos.
- Sensory experience
Wooden wick produces a wider ribbon-like flame and a gentle crackling sound.
Why this is supported

- Maintenance
Trim wick to 1/4 inch before each lighting; first burn one hour minimum.
Why this is supported
To maintain the signature crackle and an even burn, the wooden wick must be trimmed before each use:
Shorten the wick to about ¼″ before each use (break off the burnt part with your fingers).
inkwellboutique.caAdditionally, on the first burn the candle needs a long initial session to create a full melt pool:
let it burn for at least one hour on the first lighting, until the wax is melted all the way to the edges of the jar

- Value
The $24 crackling wooden wick candle burns 50 hours, a premium feature at this price.
Why this is supported
At $24 CAD, this candle includes a crackling wooden wick, a feature typically found in higher-priced artisanal candles.
The wooden wick combined with pure soy wax contributes to a slow, even burn:
Soy wax candles burn slower because the melting point of soy wax is around 120 degrees F.
mtncitycandles.comThis supports the advertised 50-hour burn time from 8 oz candle, making the sensory upgrade both affordable and long-lasting.
- Burn time
Burns up to 50 hours, 30–50% longer than paraffin.
Why this is supported

- Wax removal
Hot water or freezing removes wax; never pour hot water into a cold jar.
Why this is supported
Two methods effectively clean the jar. The hot water method melts the wax, which then solidifies as a clean disk:
The remaining soy wax will melt, rise to the surface, and solidify as the water cools.
alenas.caThe freezer method pops out wax but requires caution:
Do not pour boiling water into a cold jar straight from the freezer.
thecandledust.comAfter removal, if repurposing as a new candle, the wick tab and glue must be taken out so the new wick seats flat:
A new wick needs a flat, stable surface. If the old tab or glue mound stays in place, the new wick can sit off-center, tilt as the wax pool forms, or fail to adhere well enough for a safe burn.
thecandledust.com- Wax disposal
The candle's soy wax residue is biodegradable and safe for trash disposal.
Why this is supported
The candle uses 100% soy wax, so any wax residue discarded in the trash is biodegradable:
Pour melted wax and wick tab into the trash. (Please Note: soy wax is biodegradable.)
litupcandleco.com- Jar repurposing
The jar works as a planter (pebble drainage), tumbler, or decor piece.
Why this is supported
The frosted jar can be converted into a planter. Because drilling the glass would crack it:
most candle jars are ceramic or glass and would crack if you try to drill into them
wildinteriors.comInstead, a pebble drainage layer allows a small succulent to thrive. For decorative use, the jar's frosted finish works well with minimal styling:
frosted glass, twine, paint, matte labels, or a simple metal rim usually work better than heavy decoration.
ecohousedecor.comAnd for reuse as a drinking glass, the soy wax cleans off completely:
Soy wax is also easier to clean or wipe away than paraffin wax.

candle
The wick is very strange. . . . it isn't really a wick, I think it might be a piece of wood? It took several matches to get it to light and the scent is limited. I don't think I would order this brand again.
