Product Insights
The Fluted Pillar Candle by Simons Maison is a sculptural decor piece that doubles as a functional light source, featuring sharp fluted ridges and a smooth, silky surface that catches ambient light unlit and glows with soft, multi-directional light when lit. Its 80/20 paraffin-soy blend delivers a dripless, smoke-free burn that extends burn time up to 50% (30–50 hours) and reduces soot, but the soy content introduces tradeoffs: variable melt rates, wicks that may fail around the halfway point, and the need for a 2–3 hour first burn to prevent tunneling. Buyers often report color variations (e.g., brown candles arriving khaki-green, green ones darker than pictured) and scuffs or dents from flimsy packaging, though the low price (estimated 0.24–0.40 CAD per hour) allows purchasing extras for events or to manage inconsistencies, making it a versatile, permanent decor piece best appreciated on sale.
Verified claims
- Detail retention
- The paraffin component ensures clean mold release and retains sharp fluted ridges.
- Surface quality
- The blend produces a smooth, silky surface and prevents frosting discoloration over time.
- Pillar structure
- The blend produces a wax hard enough for a freestanding pillar candle without a container.
- Burn performance
- Soy content extends burn time by up to 50% and reduces soot versus pure paraffin.
- Light diffusion
- The vertical fluted ridges diffuse the flame's light into a soft, even, multi-directional ambient glow that avoids harsh glare.
- Unlit appeal
- Measuring 3 × 4 inches (7.5 × 10 cm), the detailed fluted ridges give the candle a sculptural, decor-forward look even when unlit.
- First burn
- Requires a 2–3 hour first burn to prevent tunneling.
- Burn consistency
- Buyers report variable melt rates and wicks that fail at the halfway point.
- Wax blend
- 80/20 paraffin-soy blend extends burn life up to 50% but soy softness may cause melt inconsistency.
- Color representation
- Buyers report brown candles arrive khaki-green and green candles are darker than pictured.
- Arrival condition
- Buyers report some candles arrive scuffed or dented.
- Cost per hour
- Estimated 0.24–0.40 CAD per hour; buyers often stock up during sales for events.
- Burn quality
- Buyers report a dripless, slow-melting, smoke-free burn, and the soy component reduces soot compared to pure paraffin.
- Decor versatility
- Buyers use it as unlit decor or as a gift topper, and its low price makes it practical to stock up for events.
- Burn duration
- The candle's 80% paraffin / 20% soy wax blend has an estimated 30–50 hour burn time, and the soy content helps it burn up to 50% longer than an all-paraffin pillar.
- Safe placement
- This is a real-flame candle; place it on a tray or in a candle holder while burning to avoid burns.
- Scent
- A buyer notes the candle is unscented.
- Extinguish smoke
- A buyer reports the candle does not smoke after being put out.

Evening ambiance with soft, diffused light
Light this fluted pillar candle to bathe a room in diffused glow during evenings of relaxation. According to aggregated customer reviews, the wax is slow-melting and dripless for extended, smoke-free ambience without messy cleanup, though some reviewers report inconsistent burn, with wicks occasionally becoming hard to keep lit halfway through. The merchant recommends placing it on a tray or in a candle holder while burning.[1]
Decorative accent for mantels and tablescapes, no flame required
Style this fluted pillar candle on a holiday mantel, dinner table, or everyday vignette as a decor piece that doesn't need to be lit. Reviewers say the fluted texture catches light and adds depth, pairing well with natural or metallic accents. Note that reported shades can look different in person than on screen — browns may appear khaki or lighter — which matters if your decor plan depends on an exact color.[1]
Dress up gift wrapping with a keepsake touch
Per Simons customer reviews, the candle's fluted ridged design can be tucked into gift wrapping to make presents look curated and elevated. Because it's a usable candle, it also doubles as a bonus gift for the recipient.[1]
Stocking up for events and large-scale decor
Customers report using this candle when decorating for weddings, parties, and seasonal projects, buying several at a time to cover multiple rooms or a larger setup. It's a popular pick for shoppers planning big-scale decor who want a matching candle throughout.[1]
Product comparison
Compared within this brand.
| Fluted Pillar Candle: Choose this for a decorative 3 by 4 inch pillar whose evenly spaced vertical fluting adds texture to mantels, tables, or gift styling even when unlit, with a paraffin-soy wax blend (80% paraffin, 20% soy) that customer reviews report burning cleanly and driplessly. It comes in one size in Off White or Red, and Simons describes it as diffusing light when lit. Note that reviews report the actual shade can differ from what's shown online (browns may look khaki, greens darker) and that burn reliability can be spotty, with some wicks becoming unlightable halfway through, so it's not recommended for critical long-burn needs and color-critical buyers should ideally see it in store.[1,2] | Long Twisted Candles Set Of 2: Choose this if you want decorative, scentless 100% paraffin taper candles for table settings and ambiance — the set of 2 features a sculptural spiral-twist profile along smooth wax, measures 0.75 inches in diameter by 11.25 inches high, and comes in colors like Charcoal, Off White, Taupe, and Green. Be aware they are thinner than standard tapers and may lean in standard candleholders, and they are not dripless, so use protective plates on fine surfaces. Some buyers also report candles arriving cracked or warped from thin wax and minimal packaging, making them a risky choice for direct online gifting.[3,4] | Assorted Candles Set Of 3: Choose this if you want a decorative set of three taper candles with varied textures—one grooved, one twisted, and one smooth—each about 10 inches (25 cm) tall and 0.75 inch (2 cm) in diameter. They are made of 80% paraffin and 20% soy wax, and while the listing shown is off-white, the set also comes in Brown and Green color variants.[5] |

Poor Customer Srvice / Response Time
I sent an email December 10th inquiring about another product I ordered from Simons. The Auto responder said don't email again, we're busy - we'll get back to you. It's Dec. 22nd and I still have not had a response. Poor customer service. I'll not order from Simons again.

Nice Candle
I really like this candle, but the colour is not as depicted, more of a khaki green than brown. However, it still worked well in my space.
