This bamboo slat bath mat is a Canadian-designed product from Simons Maison, constructed from responsibly sourced bamboo slats with rubber backing pads for floor grip. Suitable as a bathroom mat, it provides a durable and quick-drying surface that can be rinsed off and air-dried; however, it is not plush, and water may pass through the slat gaps, so it should be placed on a water-tolerant floor. Dimensions are 36 x 54 cm (14.25 x 21.25 in), and users should note that the mat becomes slippery when wet and should be used only on dry floors.

Product Insights

This bamboo slat bath mat offers a modern spa-like look and natural mold resistance from bamboo's antibacterial fibers, air-drying within hours and lasting 7–10 years with periodic oiling and sanding. However, it is designed for dry floors only—water pools underneath through slat gaps, making it slippery when wet and requiring careful placement outside the shower on tile. Sharp slat edges dig into bare feet, discouraging barefoot use, while rubber pads may discolor vinyl floors unless felt protectors are added. Regular cleaning prevents slip from debris, and the renewable bamboo material biodegrades, reducing waste.

I really like this. Gives a spa look to my small bathroom. It looks and feels like a great quality. I’ve used it only for a few weeks so let’s hope it is good.

Bamboo and wood mats last longer, dry faster, don't require machine washing, and resist mold, but they lack the plush softness of fabric mats.

  • Bamboo platform mat lasts 7 years with simple rinsing

I use an elevated bamboo platform. I hate washing bath mats, it gets really gross. I can just take the whole platform and stick it in the tub--quick soapy rinse under the shower and it's good to go. I bought a cheap one off Amazon and I've been using it for about 7 years now. Looks as good as the day I got it.

  • Bamboo bath mat praised for durability and fast drying

i got tired of the whole fabric bath mat situation too they always shed or get gross no matter how gentle you are with them. i like this bamboo bath mat instead it’s not soft and fluffy obviously, but it holds up way better long-term, doesn’t flake apart in the wash (because you don’t need to wash it like fabric), and dries super fast. plus it folds up if you need to stash it away. worth a look if you’re open to going the wood route.

  • Wooden bath mat held up well with minimal maintenance

I wonder how well these hold up for people with hard water. My guess is the porosity would be filled up with calcium deposits over time and it would just become non absorbtive. Otherwise I love the idea. We have a wooden bath mat that's held up really well. Just a quick rinse and wipe down every few months.

  • Teak wood mat non-slip, absorptive, easy to maintain

Never tried the stone one but I’ve had a Teak one as you describe for about 6 years. It is not slippery at all, the wood is very absorptive. I don’t think my feet feel any wetter than with a cloth mat but I don’t go around barefoot, I wear crocs flips around the house. Probably some water does go through the gaps but mine is on tile so it wouldn’t hurt anything, it will evaporate in its own time. For maintenance I just rinse it off in the shower when I go in to mop the bathroom. It still looks as new.
