Product Insights
This bamboo slat bath mat offers a modern spa-like look and natural mold resistance from bamboo's antibacterial fibers, air-drying within hours and lasting 7–10 years with periodic oiling and sanding. However, it is designed for dry floors only—water pools underneath through slat gaps, making it slippery when wet and requiring careful placement outside the shower on tile. Sharp slat edges dig into bare feet, discouraging barefoot use, while rubber pads may discolor vinyl floors unless felt protectors are added. Regular cleaning prevents slip from debris, and the renewable bamboo material biodegrades, reducing waste.
Verified claims
- Placement
- Designed for dry floors only; small rubber pads grip a dry surface, and the bamboo surface is slippery when wet. Wipe feet dry before stepping on it and keep it off wet tile or directly outside a shower.
- Water pooling
- The multiple parallel slats have narrow gaps that let water from wet feet drain through onto the surface beneath, so place the mat on a water-tolerant surface such as tile or use a drip tray; the mat itself is for dry floors only and is slippery when wet.
- Sharp edges
- Buyers report sharp bamboo slats that dig into bare feet.
- Cushioning
- The mat is not soft or plush; it has a hard bamboo slat surface.
- Durability
- Buyers report bamboo mats lasting 7+ years with simple care.
- Maintenance
- Apply oil every 3–6 months and sand every few years to maintain appearance and extend life.
- Hygiene
- Bamboo's silica-rich fibers and natural antibacterial agents help resist mold and mildew, and the slatted design lets water drain through; still wipe the mat off and let it dry after each use.
- Comfort and appearance
- Slippery when wet with sharp slat edges, yet natural bamboo finish looks modern and spa-like.
- Drying
- Bamboo slats dry quickly; water that passes through the gaps evaporates on tile.
- Care routine
- Periodic oiling, vinegar-water cleaning, and light sanding refresh extend the mat's lifespan to 6–10 years.
- Floor protection
- Use on tile or with tray to catch drips; rubber pads may require felt guards on vinyl.
- Placements
- Buyers use it in dry bathroom areas and at the bottom of a pool ladder; the manufacturer specifies dry floors only.
- Floor compatibility
- Works on dry tile and vinyl floors; water drips through the slat gaps and rubber pads may mark vinyl.
- Resistance
- Resists mold via bamboo's silica and antibacterial fibers, dries fast and cleans with a rinse.
- Material
- Bamboo is a rapidly renewable grass that biodegrades and avoids deforestation.
- Vinyl floor risk
- Rubber pads may discolor vinyl flooring.
- Felt pad protection
- Applying felt pads over rubber pads prevents floor damage.
- Visual design
- Buyers report the mat has a modern, minimal Scandinavian spa look, and several purchase multiple mats for a uniform appearance.
- Rubber pad attachment
- The small rubber pads on the underside are permanently attached and may wear down or leave residue over time.
- Cleaning method
- Wipe off and let dry after each use; for deeper cleaning, rinse it in the shower or tub, occasionally scrub with soapy water, and let it air dry—no washing machine needed.
- Exclusive design
- This mat is a Simons Maison exclusive designed in Canada and made from responsibly sourced bamboo.
- Responsible sourcing certification
- The 'responsibly sourced bamboo' description is Simons' own Vision program claim; no third-party certification such as FSC is named.

Swapping a cloth bath rug for a bamboo slat mat
Reviewers use this 36 x 54 cm bamboo slat mat in the bathroom as a replacement for traditional rugs, drawn to its natural bamboo finish and spa-like modern look. Small rubber pads help it stay put on the floor, and care is simply wiping it off and letting it dry after each use. Note that the surface is slippery when wet, so it should go on a dry floor with feet wiped first, and some reviewers found the slats uncomfortable under sensitive bare feet.[1]
A fitted step mat at the pool ladder
One customer reviewer reported that this mat fits perfectly at a pool ladder landing, creating a dedicated step right at the water's edge. A satisfied buyer similarly noted that its 36 x 54 cm size works well as a pool ladder mat or in tight spaces.[1]
Product comparison
Compared within this brand.
| Bamboo Slat Bath Mat 36 X 54 Cm: Choose this if you want a responsibly sourced bamboo mat with a Scandinavian spa look in place of a traditional bath rug — reviewers like its eye-catching natural finish, and its 14.25 by 21.25 inches (36 x 54 cm) one-size format suits tight spots such as a pool ladder landing. Small rubber pads stick to the floor, and care is simple: wipe off and let dry after each use. Note that the surface is slippery when wet (use on a dry floor only), and some reviewers report the slats can arrive with sharp edges that dig into bare feet, so it may not suit those expecting softness underfoot.[1] | White Tiles Bath Mat 35 X 78 Cm: Choose this if you want a white, tile-patterned mat for in-tub use: its non-slip suction cups grip the bathtub floor — a grip reviewers report as secure in daily use on a standard porcelain tub — and its textured raised tiles add underfoot security. It measures 35 by 78 cm (about 13.75 by 30.75 inches) in one size, is made of 100% thermoplastic elastomer with mildew resistance, and its thick, solid build feels soft underfoot per reviewers, who also find its elegant white tile look easy to blend with modern decor. Note it is designed to stick to the tub surface with suction cups rather than lie loose, so it suits showering in a tub rather than a standalone shower floor.[2,3,4] | Foliage Bath Mat 40 X 70 Cm: Choose this if you want an in-tub bath mat that anchors with non-slip suction cups and is made of 100% rustproof rubber. The one-size, 40 x 70 cm mat has an embossed leaf pattern with raised ribbed texture, and the merchant describes it as modern and comfortable underfoot. Note that the listing color is Off White, though the product photo shows a pale blush-beige tone.[5,6,7] |

Bamboo platform mat lasts 7 years with simple rinsing
I use an elevated bamboo platform. I hate washing bath mats, it gets really gross. I can just take the whole platform and stick it in the tub--quick soapy rinse under the shower and it's good to go. I bought a cheap one off Amazon and I've been using it for about 7 years now. Looks as good as the day I got it.

Bamboo bath mat praised for durability and fast drying
i got tired of the whole fabric bath mat situation too they always shed or get gross no matter how gentle you are with them. i like this bamboo bath mat instead it’s not soft and fluffy obviously, but it holds up way better long-term, doesn’t flake apart in the wash (because you don’t need to wash it like fabric), and dries super fast. plus it folds up if you need to stash it away. worth a look if you’re open to going the wood route.

Wooden bath mat held up well with minimal maintenance
I wonder how well these hold up for people with hard water. My guess is the porosity would be filled up with calcium deposits over time and it would just become non absorbtive. Otherwise I love the idea. We have a wooden bath mat that's held up really well. Just a quick rinse and wipe down every few months.

Teak wood mat non-slip, absorptive, easy to maintain
Never tried the stone one but I’ve had a Teak one as you describe for about 6 years. It is not slippery at all, the wood is very absorptive. I don’t think my feet feel any wetter than with a cloth mat but I don’t go around barefoot, I wear crocs flips around the house. Probably some water does go through the gaps but mine is on tile so it wouldn’t hurt anything, it will evaporate in its own time. For maintenance I just rinse it off in the shower when I go in to mop the bathroom. It still looks as new.
