    GREEN LIFESTYLE

We believe that small actions have the power to make a big difference. This has been our approach to customer service since 1840, and it's also an approach for thinking about the future. On March 9, 1990, we adopted a beluga whale named Twik to support the St. Lawrence National Institute of Ecotoxicology in its research and preservation of our marine species. Since then, we've continued to work towards creating a healthier environment.

A number of fabrics offer new environmental alternatives for the fashion industry. At Simons, we take painstaking care to design trendsetting styles that are made using the most eco-friendly methods.

  • ECO-FRIENDLY FABRICS
    Organic Cotton

The cotton used to make our organic cotton clothing was grown according to organic methods that minimize the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers.
Picking pieces made of certified organic cotton helps protect the health of humans and our planet. It's beautiful way to combine being fashionable and eco-friendly!

    Tencel ®

Simons offers designs in Tencel®, a type of lyocell that's more eco-friendly. Tencel® is a soft and light fibre made from wood pulp that comes from forests that are responsibly managed and that are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). The process of transforming wood fibres into a textile is gentle on the environment and produces a soft, cool, and absorbent fabric that's perfect for clothing that's as on trend as it is comfortable.

MATERIALS THAT RESPECT ANCIENT AND ENDANGERED FORESTS

Today, more and more fabrics are being made of viscose, which is derived from wood. In order to ensure that the viscose we use does not come from the world's ancient or endangered forests, we have partnered with the non-profit organization Canopy.  La Maison Simons pledges to work in collaboration with the industry to only use fabric that is free of pulp from ancient and endangered forests, and we look forward to working with viscose suppliers that have passed independent third-party verification audits and that continue to improve their sustainability performance in line with the Canopystyle initiative, confirming that they meet our policy commitment. For more information, please read our statement regarding forest conservation.
