Simons, there for the community

22 Dec 2016

Community involvement is an integral part of Simons’ values and 2016 showed this like never before. Simons made important contributions to different provincial organizations, illustrating the company’s efforts to act as a vehicle for societal change. Here are a few of the initiatives that marked this past year.

MAKING CHILDREN SMILE AGAIN

At the Soupesoup restaurant located in our Galeries d'Anjou store, customers wishing to recognize the exceptional customer service they had received could make a donation. Since the restaurant opened in 2013, customers donated a total of $150,000, which was given to the Fondation du Dr Julien.

The employees chose to donate to this organization, whose mission is to provide at-risk children with access to social paediatric care and services in order to help them reach their full potential. As the Fondation du Dr Julien is located east of Montreal, where our Anjou store is also located, the choice to donate to them aligned well with Simons' commitment to care for the communities of which they are a part.

GIVING EVERY WOMAN THE CHANCE TO ACHIEVE HER DREAMS

For the second year in a row, Simons teamed up with the Lise Watier Foundation to create a T-shirt associated with their Brillante et Rebelle campaign. The total profits from the sale of the T-shirt were then given to the foundation. $15,000 was raised to support their mission to help disadvantaged women and young girls take control of their lives.

CREATING A WORLD WHERE WE HELP ONE ANOTHER

This year, Simons became a humanitarian ambassador for the Canadian Red Cross. Four Twik T-shirts with messages promoting peace raised funds that helped bring hope and aid to people in need in regions of conflict. By donating $8 from the sale of each T-shirt, Simons raised a total of $14,000 for the organization.

FOR THE LOVE OF ANIMALS

Simons also joined forces with the Society for the Protection of Animals (SPA) Canada in its mission to promote the respect and well-being of animals by creating four adorable T-shirts featuring exclusive prints. With each purchase from the collection, a contribution of $8 was given to the organization for a total donation of $13,000.

With the support of our customers, we have made a concerted effort to make a difference alongside several organizations here in Quebec. I look forward to continuing to create these types of meaningful efforts.
