My Heart, My Cause

10 Jan 2022

Simons is proud to present the fourth edition of My Heart, My Cause. This collaboration spotlights local talent by printing their works of art on T-shirts. For each T-shirt sold, $10 will be donated to one of the four charitable causes chosen by the Canadian artists who created these stunning illustrations.

Amalfi, by Les barbos

Maude Gervais, founder of the art project Les barbos, is a Quebec urbanist and illustrator who loves nature and the outdoors. She draws inspiration from landscapes at home and all over the world to create her soft, colourful posters.

For our collaboration, Maude created Amalfi, an ode to summer days and la dolce vita. The illustration depicts the dazzling city on the Italian coast in a hazy blend of sunny hues.

Maude has chosen to donate to Projet L.U.N.E., a community organization in Quebec City created by and for sex workers. Its mission is to support sex workers and improve their quality of life by raising awareness and by providing housing, hygiene kits, and training.

Hope Heals, by Anna May Henry

Anna May Henry creates unconventional still life compositions that depict food and other everyday objects. The Toronto artist practices an array of art forms including painting, ceramics, and digital drawing in an ongoing search for belonging, healing, and self-love.

Titled Hope Heals, this illustration reflects on the role hope plays in our lives. Anna May depicts hope as a healing tonic, a beverage that can transform us and give us strength with each sip.

She has chosen to donate to FoodShare, a non-profit organization in Toronto that advocates for food justice. To achieve its goal of ensuring everyone has access to affordable, fresh, nutritious food, the organization educates the public and works directly with those most affected by food insecurity.

Taiyakis, by Evi Jane

For nearly two years, illustrator and graphic designer Evi Jane has been encouraging people to buy local with her charming illustrations of local businesses. She uses her considerable talent to bring local products, stores, and restaurants to life and shine a light on the people behind them.

The business Evi Jane has chosen to depict for My Heart, My Cause comes straight out of her imagination. The Taiyakis food truck is a perfect reflection of the artist’s luminous and gentle creative universe.

She has chosen to donate to the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation. Created in 1987, the Foundation works with the Montreal community and supports the university hospital in its mission to improve the overall health of children and mothers.

In the Mood for Love, by Marie-Claude Marquis

Multi-disciplinary artist Marie-Claude Marquis expresses her creativity through graphic design and visual arts. She loves to give old objects a second life using typographical interventions inspired by nostalgia, pop culture, and her own emotions.

In the Mood for Love is a colourful piece that touches on the universal need for love and human contact. After months of social distancing, this feeling is even more poignant. “We all deserve to be touched and loved,” she says.

The artist has chosen to donate to Centre d’Apprentissage Parallèle de Montréal (CAP). This organization uses art to help people experiencing emotional and psychological difficulties. CAP workshops focus on creativity to foster personal growth and fulfillment.

The My Heart, My Cause T-shirts are made of organic cotton and are now available in store and online.
