Space-O™ Micro-Perforated Camo Short Length: 6.5 Cm (2.5")
These Satisfy Space-O micro-perforated running shorts are lightweight technical briefs designed for running and training, featuring a 2.5-inch inseam and a full-stretch Space-O jersey fabric with micro-perforations for breathability. Key specifications include a built-in silky liner with Justice technology for UV protection, an elastic waistband with hidden drawcord, a back phone pocket, thermosealed seams, and a weight of 4.23 oz; the shell is 88% polyamide and 12% spandex, made in Lithuania. Based on user feedback, the shorts tend to run small, so sizing up is often recommended, and some runners note the liner can cause chafing on longer runs.

Product Insights
Satisfy's Space-O Micro-Perforated Camo Short (120g, 6.5 cm inseam) aims to vanish on the skin with its ultralight, breathable micro-perforated shell and thermosealed seams that eliminate stitch friction and chafe, even when wet. The built-in liner offers UV protection and disappears for some, but buyers report tightness and chafing on runs over 8 miles. A hidden drawcord customizes waistband fit, and a detachable care tag leaves no stub. However, the shorts lack side pockets; the back phone pocket bounces noticeably, and pocket durability is inconsistent—some tear within weeks, others last years. Requires cold-water, no-dry care to protect the micro-perforations.

Deep Research
Thermosealed seams and chafe reduction
- Thread in stitched seams absorbs sweat and can expand minutely, roughening the surface against skin, but a thermosealed seam is a solid polyurethane-based bond that is hydrophobic—it neither absorbs moisture nor changes texture when wet, which means the anti-friction property remains consistent throughout a sweat-soaked marathon, directly addressing the chafing complaints that can arise with traditional sewn shorts on long runs.
Technical comparison with premium alternatives
- The care tag is intentionally removable without leaving a stub or adhesive residue, a detail that means the inner waistband remains perfectly smooth for shirtless runners — most shorts leave a scratchy remnant after cutting, making this a small but telling indicator of whole-garment frictionless design.
- A mini snap hook concealed in the double-layer waistband provides a secure, silent attachment point for keys or a medallion, eliminating the metal-key-in-pocket jangle that can annoy on solo predawn runs and removing the need for a bulky key pouch that would break the short's low-profile silhouette.
- At 120 grams, the Space-O is a gram-counted piece published to the tenth of an ounce — for context, a typical phone weighs 200+ grams, so the short adds only half that mass to each leg's swing cycle, which becomes perceptible when fatigue sets in during ultra-distance events.
- Produced in Lithuania, the Space-O benefits from a regional expertise in bonded and sealed sportswear construction shared with brands like Vollebak and Rapha, connecting it to a lineage of technical apparel where seam integrity and longevity under stretch are prioritized over the lower cost of Asian mass production.
- The horizontally oriented back pocket is designed to resist sweat ingress, protecting a phone without the stiff, heat-trapping waterproof zips found on competitor pockets, so the waistband stays pliable and low-profile — a solution prioritizing aerodynamics and comfort over maximum storage security.
- All seams are thermosealed rather than stitched, creating a flat, smooth interior that reduces friction against the skin — a technique borrowed from compression and triathlon apparel where chafing at the inner thigh is a race-ending risk, justifying its higher manufacturing cost in a short meant for marathon distances.
- The integrated liner incorporates Justice™ technology to block ultraviolet radiation, turning the under-short into a UPF barrier that protects against sun exposure during long outdoor sessions without the weight or layering of separate UV baselayers, a feature absent from the liners of most competitors at any price.
- The shell is constructed from an Italian-milled polyamide-elastane jersey that is micro-perforated across its entire surface rather than relying on discrete mesh panels, providing uniform airflow and preventing the localized wet zones that emerge when ventilation is concentrated — a material-first approach that adds cost but eliminates hot-spot mapping from the design brief.

Q&A
1 answered- How does the fabric hold up to machine washing and drying? Are there any special care requirements?
- We recommend machine washing these shorts in cold water (30°C) and hanging them to air dry—do not tumble dry, as the micro-perforated fabric can be damaged by high heat. Do not use bleach or iron the garment. The fabric is quick-drying by design, so air drying works well.
Reddit Insights
5 threads · r/runningfashion, r/satisfyrunningReddit users are divided on the Satisfy Space-O shorts, appreciating the comfortable Justice liner but lamenting the revised design's lack of storage and prevalent sizing and chafing issues.
Overall sentiment is mixed: while some users highly praise the shorts for their lightweight comfort and Justice liner, many criticize the revised version for removing pockets, the liner for chafing, and the sizing for running small. The negative comments outweigh the positive, leading to a slightly negative overall score.

Community Q&A
- Do Space-O shorts run true to size?

- Yes, many recommend Currently Running shorts for similar aesthetics with better features and lower price.
- How durable are these shorts?
- Mixed; some have used them for years without issues, others report pockets tearing within weeks.

Satisfy Space-O shorts inferior to Currently in comfort and features
I’ve had both the satisfy space-o 2.5” shorts and the currently 5” ones and the currently ones are superior in every way. The phone pocket in the CR shorts are on the leg in the liner which means the phone is held still. In the satisfy ones it’s on the back and bounces around, not loads but it’s noticeable. The CR shorts have another leg liner pocket as well as a zip up back pocket which I keep my keys in. The liner in the satisfy shorts feels really tight and I get bad chafing in them whereas because the liner is longer in the CR shorts this doesn’t happen. Also the CR shorts are reinforced in loads of places and feel extremely well made, I’ve had several pockets tear with a few weeks of use on satisfy shorts and tights which is insane for products that cost this much.

Space-O shorts fit small; user contemplates sizing up to XL
I’m usually between a Medium or Large. 6ft 180lbs, usually a 33 waist — I recently purchased space-o shorts in a size large and they fit pretty snug. I’m contemplating trying a pair in xl, which I’ve never worn in any other brand.

Revised Space-O shorts lack gel pockets, impacting marathon usage
I'm thinking about grabbing an extra pair or two of the old 2.5" versions that are available in the archive sale just because they still have the side pockets. I've run two marathons in these specifically BECAUSE of the extra pockets for gels and gummies, really feels like a miss getting rid of the storage.

Camo Space-O shorts have tighter liner than previous years
i have the camo ones from the recent drop and the liner is the same as my other space o’s from past years. actually tighter than my 2023ish ones. you should hit them up.

Space-O 2.5 shorts are a favorite with comfortable Justice liner
Satisfy’s Space-O 2.5 shorts are by far my favorite running shorts, and I’ve tried quite a number. The true value i think is in the Justice liner, which is a lightweight, thin and form fitting material that just disappears on the skin. I’ve got 3 pairs, 2 of which have held up over 3 years of abuse and still work as new. The 3” trail rippys are great too.
