Antora Hooded Boxy Raincoat
The North Face Antora Hooded Boxy Raincoat is a women's waterproof shell jacket constructed with a DryVent 2L polyester membrane (25,000mm hydrostatic head) and a PFC-free DWR finish. Designed for casual rainwear, it lacks pit zips and insulation, making it less suitable for high-intensity activities or cold weather.

Product Insights
The North Face Antora Hooded Boxy Raincoat offers reliable weather protection via a 25,000mm waterproof 100% polyester DryVent shell with recycled materials and a durable 75D ripstop face fabric, plus a comfortable mesh liner and strategically placed high front pockets that remain accessible with a backpack or harness. However, its core tradeoff is poor breathability and ventilation: it lacks pit zips, leading to sweat buildup during activity, and its breathability drops up to 70% when the PFC-free DWR wets out. It also packs less compactly into its hood and weighs more than key competitors, making it better suited for casual daily use than aerobic or backpacking pursuits.
Verified claims
- Material
- 100% polyester 2-layer DryVent with mesh liner and recycled materials.

- Packs less compactly into its hood and weighs more than key competitors.
- Pocket design
- High front pockets remain accessible with a backpack hip belt or climbing harness.
- Pit zips
- Buyers report sweat buildup during activity.
- Breathability
- Breathability drops up to 70% when DWR wets out.
- Hood

- Adjustability
- Elastic cuffs provide a snug seal; hood coverage is minimal but hem cinches.
- Pocket access
- High pockets stay accessible when wearing a backpack or harness.
- Liner comfort
- Mesh liner provides a soft feel against the skin, unlike standard plastic liners.
- Portability
- Buyers report the Antora weighs 400–500 g and lacks a stow pocket, but stuffs into its hood, making it better for casual daily use than hiking.
- Durability
- 75D ripstop face fabric shows no abrasion in field tests.
- DWR
- PFC-free DWR requires periodic reapplication; wash regularly and tumble dry to reactivate.

- Weather protection
- Storm flap prevents zipper leaks, but no pit zips mean sweat build-up in active use.
- Pocket height
- Rib-height pockets designed for pack access, not casual hand warming.
- Weather sealing
- Storm flaps with hook-and-loop seal from rain but hinder one-handed entry.
- Pocket storage
- Deep pockets hold phone, keys, snack; larger than Venture's.
- Logo placement
- Back-right-shoulder logo replicates 1985 Mountain Jacket placement.
- Price value
- Full price of 170 CAD is decent; sales at 40-50% off are common.
- Rain performance
- 25,000mm waterproof rating and durable shell; DWR requires reapplication for breathability.

Great jacket
This is a beautiful lightweight jacket. The sizing is as stated and the colours are lovely. I highly recommend it.

Expert review: decent but not great; alternatives recommended
Before anyone asks- This would be a decent (but not great) rain jacket, and provide moderate wind protection. It is *not* insulated and as such would not be suitable for cold weather on its own. The price is good, but not spectacular. If you're in the market for something like this, I would recommend waiting for a deal on the TNF Venture, Marmot Precip, or Patagonia Torrentshell. They are similar products that use superior tech at an only slightly higher price. But if you MUST buy a rain jacket TODAY, this isn't a mistake. Merely not as good as I know you could do. Waterproof rating explanation: DryVent 2L with 25,000mm HH
The jacket shell is made up of DryVent 2L, which according to this site https://www.alpinetrek.co.uk/blog/dryvent-info/ - the material has a hydrostatic head of 25,000mm. That level of waterproofing is on the high end and should keep you dry. https://www.evo.com/guides/outerwear-waterproof-ratings-and-breathability Always check the ratings (waterproof and breathability) of the jacket material to see what best suits your needs.

Feature comparison: Antora vs Vista
Vista is a 2.5L shell, Antora is 2L. Vista is packable into its own pocket, Antora isn't. Antora has a storm flap, Vista doesn't. Antora has elasticated cuffs, Vista has hook and loop straps. Vista has zip pit venting, Antora doesn't. Antora is made with recycled materials. Antora is the cheaper coat on the TNF website

User experience: Antora is great for casual, not for hiking due to no ventilation
I’ve had two Antoras over the years and I just got the TNF Alta Vista because I wanted pit zips - I haven’t tried the Rainer but I was between that and the AV. Antora is great for casual wear but not for hiking - you stay dry but there’s no ventilation if you need it. Before I got the AV I also tried the Black Diamond Stormline Stretch but I was between two sizes and neither one fit me well enough. So long story short, if you want packable and pit zips - Rainer over the Antora.

Description of Antora rain hoodie: lacks storm flap, no pit zips
rain hoodie - does not have a storm flap so on those hard rainy and windy days, it's possible water may leak down the main zipper. it also has exposed hood and hem cinch cords. no pit zips and it has elastic cuffs and smaller pockets than the jacket style but bigger pockets than the venture. same 2 layer dryvent construction
