Product Insights
The Irlene Topstitched Cowboy Boots are a discount diffusion line from Frye & Co., distinct from heritage Frye, sold through TJX and other discount channels. Priced at CAD 250, they are considered overpriced for synthetic leather that buyers report peels and cracks within months, with a glued sole and no shank making them unrepairable. The boots run narrow and stiff, requiring sizing up for wide feet and limiting all-day comfort for standing or walking. Their off-white color offers style versatility as a neutral bridge between seasons.

Deep Research
How to style off-white cowboy boots
- The beige topstitching on the off-white upper adds a subtle Western detail that differentiates these boots from plain off-white booties and allows them to coordinate with warm-toned accessories like cognac belts or gold jewelry without clashing.
- The stacked faux-leather heel, at 1.5 inches, provides enough lift to read as a heel without sacrificing stability, making the Irlene suitable for all-day wear at outdoor events where a stiletto would sink — pair with linen wide-leg trousers or a denim mini for a balanced silhouette.
- Off-white acts as a bridge color that pairs with both warm and cool tones; with a caramel-colored variant also available, the off-white option specifically works for those who want a lighter neutral that transitions effortlessly from light-wash spring denim to winter whites.
- Tagged as 'classic' and 'heritage' in its style classification, the Irlene draws on Frye's long bootmaking history, but the off-white faux leather modernizes the silhouette for clean-lined capsule wardrobes, suiting slip dresses and oversized blazers arguably better than distressed-brown cowboy boots.

Narrow and stiff
I’ve had a few pairs of cowboy boots over the years and while these are gorgeous and the shaft height is perfect, they are very stiff and the toe area is narrow. Because they are faux leather I don’t anticipate them stretching as much as a full leather pair would. Unfortunately I had to return. If you have a narrow foot they might work for you!
stunning
These are so freaking beautiful, they're a work of art. You can tell how quality the materials are as well.

Q&A
5 answered- Do these boots run true to size, or should I size up or down?
- According to customer reviews, sizing is mixed. One reviewer said the boots fit perfectly true to size, while another mentioned they run small and are narrow. We recommend ordering your usual size but be prepared for a snug fit; consider sizing up if you have wide feet.
- How does the faux leather hold up after several months of wear? Does it peel or crack?
- Based on community feedback, the faux leather used in Frye & Co. boots is not very durable. Multiple users report that the vegan leather can peel and crack after several months of wear. If long-term durability is a priority, these may not be the best choice.
- Are these boots comfortable for walking or standing for several hours?
- The boots have a cushioned faux-leather footbed and a 1.5-inch stacked heel. However, one customer review notes that they are 'narrow and stiff,' which could affect comfort for extended wear. For casual walking or short periods they should be fine, but standing for hours may cause discomfort.
- Is Frye & Co. the same as Frye?
- No, it is a diffusion brand with lower-quality materials and construction.
- Are Frye & Co. boots worth buying?
- No, they are often made of vegan leather/plastic and are not durable.

Watch Out For
Compared To
vs Authentic Frye
Frye & Co. is a cheap imitation of real Frye boots; real Frye (especially older ones) are much higher quality with full-grain leather and Goodyear welt construction.

Frye boots at TJX stores are not the same as older Frye quality
Every time I spot a pair of Frye boots at a TJX store, after just touching it and giving it a quick look over, I put it down. I have Frye boots that are 10+ years old and the ones you’ll find at Marshall’s are not the same.
