Product Insights
The Bondi 9 from Hoka upgrades the Bondi 8 with supercritical foam that delivers 60.2% energy return and 146 SA shock absorption, making it a legitimate daily trainer with a smooth, weightless-feeling ride at recovery paces. Its wide 127mm forefoot and refined rocker keep the 43mm stack stable for walking and standing, while the improved upper offers more stretch and breathability. At $175, it undercuts the Brooks Glycerin Max by $25 and buyers use it for walking and daily use beyond running. However, the padded heel collar makes the shoe run a half-size short, the narrow toe box and low midfoot volume pressure high-instep feet, and the stiff heel counter can irritate the Achilles. Overpronators report instability due to a lack of stability features, and while the Durabrasion rubber outsole is durable, colored inserts may peel and are non-replaceable. The midsole foam improves energy return but can lose support over months, and sizing up half a size is commonly recommended.

Comfortable for walking and positive style opinion
Started using them today for walking on a Disney theme park, so far really like them, really comfortable. Haven’t run in them yet. I agree they might feel hot during warmer climates. And regarding style I actually think they look awesome

Comfiest shoes ever, sizing advice
Easily the comfiest shoes I’ve ever worn. You won’t regret your purchase. Just aim a half size up if this is your first Hoka pair.

Durability issue with sole patches
I do like Hokas for my distance walking, but have become very disenchanted because of the way the soles wear. I don’t understand the purpose of the silly little colored patches on the bottom of the shoe and they eventually come loose. When paying well over $100, I wouldn’t expect to be constantly gluing things back together. Unless these get a proper redesign, I won’t be purchasing ever again. Time to find an alternative…

Switched to Gaviota for more stability
Had a Bondi, switched to Gaviotas. Podiatrist said it was a more stable shoe and I found that to be true

Women's wide too narrow, toes numb
Something is definitely up with the current Bondi 9’s. I just got a brand new pair - women’s size 8 1/2 wide. My normal size. These bondi 9’s are not wide at all. I wore them for one 5 mile walk and my toes were numb. I called Hoka during my walk to ask if I could send them back. I have never worn shoes and send them back in my life, but these are not wide shoes. Thankfully, they accepted my return and I’m going to swap these for men’s size 7 wide Bondi 9’s. I should get a little bit more width with a men’s shoe.

Preference for Bondi 9 over Clifton for comfort
Can’t go wrong with either honestly. Cliftons run slightly wider and less “squishier” vs Bondis. If I had to choose between the two, I’m picking the Bondi 9
