Product Insights
The Maeve Leather Jacket by Soaked in Luxury (299 CAD) merges Scandinavian minimalism with feminine glamour into a less aggressive biker silhouette. Its sheep leather exterior is supple from first wear, lighter and more drapable than cowhide, and develops a personalized patina within months; the full satin lining slides easily over clothing and resists wrinkles. Regular fit runs large—size down one for a snug biker look—and the cropped cut pairs with classic biker details: asymmetrical zip, notched collar with snaps, metal hardware, visible stitching, and zippered pockets and cuffs. The leather's residual lanolin offers mild water resistance, but regular conditioning is needed to sustain its buttery softness and 10-15 year lifespan. Designed for mobility and three-season breathability, the Maeve delivers an accessible luxury statement that ages gracefully with each wear.

Deep Research
What a satiny polyester lining brings to wearability
- The polyester satin dries quickly if it gets damp from rain or sweat, so you’re not stuck with a chilly, wet interior clinging to you — a practical trait for a leather jacket that’s often worn as an outer layer in unpredictable weather.
- Polyester satin linings typically weigh between 60 and 100 grams per square meter, keeping the jacket light and unbulky while providing a durable, protective interface between the leather and skin that helps preserve the hide’s interior over time.
- Polyester fibers don’t wrinkle or shrink under normal body heat and wear, so the satin lining maintains a smooth, neat interior even after being packed in a bag — no ironing or re-shaping needed, just pull on the jacket and the lining looks as flat as the day you bought it.
- Polyester’s inherent resistance to abrasion and tearing allows the satin lining to endure repeated arm and shoulder friction without thinning or developing holes at stress points, a durability advantage over natural-fiber linings that typically fray or degrade after a few seasons of heavy use.
- The lining uses a satin-weave polyester, giving one side a smooth, lustrous finish that glides against clothing — a fabric class typically reserved for dress suits and blazers, bringing a polished, slightly dressy interior touch to an otherwise rugged biker-jacket silhouette.
- Unlike viscose linings that can shrink in humidity, 100% polyester satin resists moisture degradation and stays flat when exposed to sweat or light rain, preventing the puckering and distortion that can ruin the interior of a frequently worn leather jacket.
Where Soaked in Luxury sits in the fashion landscape
- With only around nine employees, Soaked in Luxury operates at a boutique scale that suggests careful curation rather than mass-market production — the Maeve jacket thus carries the feel of a personal selection from an intimate design studio, not a corporate uniform.
- Soaked in Luxury was founded in 2006 in Copenhagen, giving it nearly two decades of design heritage — for the Maeve leather jacket, that means an established Scandinavian label with a matured aesthetic rather than a newcomer chasing trends.
- Soaked in Luxury releases six collections annually plus a Never Out of Stock and Express range, a cadence that signals a dedicated design studio delivering fresh fashion without the relentless churn of fast fashion — for the buyer, this reassures that the Maeve jacket emerges from a creative process, not a commodity pipeline.
- Soaked in Luxury designs for 'real lives — walking down the street or riding a bike,' meaning the Maeve is engineered for urban movement: its lightweight sheep leather and normal fit support layering and range of motion, not static posing.
- The brand's European pricing spans 19 to 369€, with this leather jacket at 189.95€ — it sits in the upper tier, positioning the Maeve as a considered investment piece within Soaked in Luxury's accessible luxury frame rather than an entry-level item.
- The brand deliberately fuses Scandinavian minimalism with feminine glamour and masculine tailoring — this tension explains the Maeve biker jacket's polished details like the notched collar and decorative buttons, which elevate the moto silhouette into smart, occasion-worthy outerwear rather than a gritty riding piece.
Fit, measurements, and what size to choose
- The brand’s model is 175 cm and wears size M, so given the 54 cm total length on a size S, a person of similar height will see the hem land at the upper hip; those taller should anticipate a more pronounced crop that may expose the waistband when arms are raised.
- Zalando explicitly flags the Maeve jacket as running large and recommends ordering one size down; for a leather moto jacket intended to mold to the body, following this advice helps maintain the intended close-to-the-body fit and prevents excess leather from bunching.
- At size S, the Maeve jacket’s sleeve length is 61 cm, back width is 39 cm, and total length is 54 cm — a cropped cut that sits at the upper hip and a narrow back that creates the fitted moto silhouette, making it best suited for layering over slim tops rather than chunky knits.
How this jacket stacks up as an authentic biker style
- Designated as a regular fit, the Maeve offers enough room through the body and sleeves for layering without losing the sharp zip line, making it a practical everyday jacket that honors the motorcyclist's need for mobility.
- Zippers, snaps, and decorative buttons are all metallic, giving the jacket a bright, reflective quality against the black leather that amplifies the biker aesthetic; this full-metal execution aligns with the classic Perfecto-style hardware approach.
- The two zip pockets on the front serve both as secure storage and as additional metal hardware elements that reinforce the jacket's biker identity, with the zip pulls adding movement and shine.
- The jacket's visible stitching along seams — a hallmark of rugged leather construction — adds a handcrafted, structural texture that contrasts with the smooth sheep leather, elevating it above plain, seamless leather jackets.
- The defining feature of the biker jacket is the diagonal front zip, which on the Maeve pulls the eye across the body and creates an unmistakably moto silhouette; this metallic slant closure sets it apart from center-zip jackets and anchors the entire design language.
- Wide notched lapels with metallic decorative buttons give the collar a structured, rock-and-roll attitude and offer the versatility to wear the lapels open or snapped shut for a different silhouette — a classic biker styling gesture.
How the Maeve compares to similar real-leather biker jackets
- Soaked in Luxury is a Danish brand stocked at Contemporaine, which means the Maeve comes from a design culture that favors clean lines and understated hardware — a minimalist take on the biker jacket that feels less aggressive than the distressed or heavily-quilted alternatives from direct-to-consumer labels, making it easier to integrate into a contemporary wardrobe.
- The Maeve’s 299 CAD price sits above the 189 CAD Decrum Bickford and 279 CAD Leather Outlet L-1011, but far below the ~498 USD AllSaints Milo; for the 110 CAD premium over the cheapest lambskin option, it adds a satin lining, a notched collar with decorative metallic buttons, and visible stitching — design elements that collectively elevate it from a generic biker jacket to a considered fashion piece.
- Zalando’s size guide confirms the Maeve is a true fitted biker jacket: size S measures 61 cm on the sleeve, 39 cm across the back, and 54 cm in total length — proportions that create a cropped, body-conscious silhouette without being restrictive; this level of measurement transparency is rare at the sub-300 CAD level and eliminates the guesswork that often leads to returns.
What to expect from sheep leather in a biker jacket
- Because sheep leather is more porous than cowhide, it develops a buttery-soft patina and subtle sheen within months of regular wear — the jacket will start showing personalized creasing and character much faster than a rugged cowhide piece, rewarding daily use with a lived-in look.
- With routine care, a well-constructed sheep leather jacket routinely lasts 10–15 years — not the multi-decade legacy of cowhide, but a respectable service life for a fashion-first biker that prioritizes softness and drape over abrasion resistance.
- A full sheepskin jacket typically weighs between 1.2 and 2.0 kg — roughly half the heft of a cowhide biker — making this piece comfortable for all-day wear and easy to layer without the heavy-drop sensation of traditional motorcycle leathers.
- Sheep leather's hollow fibre structure acts as a natural thermostat, keeping the jacket breathable on mild days yet insulating when temperatures drop — so it functions more like a three-season fashion layer than a cold-weather-only outerwear piece.
- Sheep leather naturally contains residual lanolin — a waxy substance from the animal's wool — which gives it mild water resistance and helps the hide retain its suppleness over time, meaning this jacket is less prone to drying out than other leathers in dry climates.
- At a typical garment-weight thickness of 0.6–1.0 mm, sheep leather drapes fluidly and conforms to the body from the first wear, so this jacket will feel like a second skin rather than a stiff shell — the biker cut will soften and follow your movements rather than holding a rigid silhouette.
- Sheep leather demands periodic conditioning to replenish its natural oils and must be kept out of heavy rain to avoid soaking — the upkeep is light but essential for preserving the glove-soft hand-feel, and neglecting it will accelerate drying and scuffing.

Veste en cuir maeve
Très belle veste! La grandeur XL me convient bien. Toutefois à cause de ma poitrine je ne peux pas l’attacher. J’ai décidé de la garder, je la porte avec un foulard et chandail chaud, le look est super beau!
Beautiful Jacket/ excellent customer service
I purchased 2 leather jackets as i was unsure of the sizing. It is true to size but I went up a size to be able to layer stuff underneath. The leather is soft and supple, the cut is perfect, not too cropped but not too long. I had an issue with canada post sending back my jacket and the Simon's customer service was AMAZING when dealing with this issue! Very happy customer

Q&A
2 answered- What weight/thickness is the sheep leather? Is it more of a lightweight fashion leather or a heavier, durable hide?
- Sheep leather is typically lightweight and soft, more akin to a fashion leather than a heavy-duty hide. The product listing describes it as "supple genuine leather," which aligns with that characterization. Exact weight or thickness is not specified in the product data.
- How should I clean and condition this sheep leather jacket? Is it spot-clean only or can it be professionally dry-cleaned?
- The product data does not include care instructions. For sheep leather jackets, professional dry cleaning or cleaning with a leather-specific conditioner is recommended. Spot cleaning with a damp cloth may work for minor marks, and conditioning helps maintain the leather's suppleness. Avoid machine washing or harsh chemicals.
