Product Insights
The adidas Originals Contrast-Logo Ankle Socks Set of 6 carries the Trefoil heritage from 1971, offering moisture-wicking polyester-spandex blend that dries 50-70% faster than cotton, breathable knit, elastic fit, and cushioned footbed for comfort. However, buyers report rapid wear with fuzz, holes, and shape loss after limited use, making the $28 six-pack poor value unless air-dried, which can extend lifespan beyond a year—unlike Puma socks at similar price which are more durable.
Verified claims
- Durability
- Buyers report durability issues such as fuzz loss, holes, and shape loss after a few months of wear.
- Care impact
- Air drying can significantly extend sock lifespan, with careful care allowing some pairs to last over a year.
- Value
- Buyers consider the $28 six-pack poor value due to rapid wear.
- Brand heritage
- The Trefoil logo on these socks signals adidas Originals, the brand's heritage and lifestyle division, with roots dating to 1971.
- Moisture wicking
- The polyester-spandex blend wicks moisture in under 5 seconds and dries 50-70% faster than cotton.
- Elastic fit
- Elastic edging stays up via spandex stretch and polyester friction.
- Cushioning
- Padded footbed absorbs shock and reduces friction to prevent blisters.
- Moisture management
- 93% polyester, 7% spandex footbed wicks moisture and dries 50-70% faster than cotton.
- Fit longevity
- Buyers report shape loss and holes after repeated washing; air drying helps maintain shape and prevent fuzz loss.
- Drying method
- Air drying instead of machine drying significantly extends the lifespan of these socks.
- Heel grip
- These socks do not have a silicone grip at the heel; they rely on the elastic edging and snug fit to stay in place.
- Heel/toe reinforcement
- The feature list does not include reinforced stitching at the heels or toes, and community reviews citing holes after a few months suggest no extra reinforcement is present.
- Sizing
- The size Medium fits women's shoe sizes 6–10 and initially fits snugly due to stretch, though community feedback notes the socks can lose shape and stretch out after repeated washing.

Adidas socks fall apart after a few washes
Adidas/hanes are just a cotton-polyster blend which fall apart after the fourth wash or so (tho I found their lifetime to be increased if I air dryed them instead of in the machine).

Puma socks recommended over Adidas
I'll second this. Much better than Adidas, Nike etc.

Fuzz detaching and quality drop on Adidas ankle socks
I think quality must have dropped, or I am rough on socks. I have some wool socks from Costco that are 10 years old and haven't worn down at all. If they still sold the same ones, I would definitely get them again. I don't understand how the bond between the fuzz and mesh is so weak. The fuzz just detatches easily. It must be an inferior material.

Adidas socks poor quality for the price
One thing for sure is adidas socks are pretty poor quality for the price.
