Product Insights
These Metallic Fringe Earrings from Simons ($19, in stock) blend folk tradition with modern practicality: the 9 cm metallic fringe moves like folk costume jewelry, with long post closures minimizing wobble and irritation, and a drop that catches light and avoids hair tangling. However, the very fringe motion that defines them requires flat storage to avoid tangling, and their fast-fashion price point (over 35x cheaper than luxury metallic drops) means a tradeoff in long-term care.

Deep Research
The folk look aesthetic explained
- Folk jewelry styling advice prescribes wearing a single bold piece with simple, monochromatic clothing to let the accessory dominate — with these 9 cm luminous fringes, pairing them with a plain white tee or a black shift dress turns them into the undisputed focal point of the outfit.
- The 9 cm fringe length produces visible movement with every turn of the head, echoing the kinetic spirit of folk costume jewelry designed for celebration and dance — a quality that purely static drops or studs cannot replicate.
- Folk jewelry has historically embraced metals alongside shells, seeds, and glass, so the metallic construction of these fringe earrings is not a modern departure but an authentic continuation of a centuries-old material tradition.
How the 9 cm length wears
- At 9 cm from the lobe, these earrings fall well below the jawline — the length turns them into a focal point for updos, cropped cuts, or bare shoulders, where the fringe motion catches light without tangling in hair.
- The extended post backs (butterfly-style) anchor the 9 cm drop more securely than a standard fishhook, reducing wobble that can cause irritation or loss — critical when the swinging fringe amplifies any instability.
- The metallic fringe strands create a kinetic, liquid-metal effect with even small head movements; at this 9 cm scale, the motion is amplified compared to shorter drops, making the earrings a conversation piece for casual settings or occasions where movement stands out.
Care and tarnish prevention
- Storing these 9 cm fringe earrings by hanging them on an earring holder prevents the metallic strands from tangling, knotting, or becoming crushed — a common failure mode for tassel-style jewelry in traditional boxes.
Value compared to similar earrings
- On the same Stylight page that sells the $19 Simons earrings, designer metal drops from Saint Laurent ($2,655) and Gucci ($715) appear side by side, making the price gap of over 35× visually explicit and framing the Simons pair as a virtually costless route into the metallic drop silhouette.
- A scan of adjacent Simons listings reveals earrings priced from $10 to $25, with the metallic fringe at $19 occupying the middle zone, meaning the price is the house label’s standard fashion-jewelry position rather than a discount or premium play.
- Mass-market metallic drop earrings on Lyst, including Nordstrom Rack’s cubic zirconia styles, routinely list between $15 and $20 after sales, positioning the Simons pair at the upper end of the everyday budget band without straying outside it.

Boucles d’oreilles à franges argent
Très jolies pour les fêtes
Not Up to Simons’ Usual Standard
I’m usually a big fan of Simons — their selection, design, and overall quality rarely disappoint me. Unfortunately, these earrings were a rare miss. In person, they look quite cheap and lack the finish I’ve come to expect. I really wanted to love them, but they didn’t live up to the usual Simons standard.
