Product Insights
The Simons Delicate Oval-Link Bracelet offers affordable stacking at $15—80% less than a Ross-Simons equivalent—with a toggle clasp that enables one-handed fastening, a solid brass core for lasting heft, and a gold-plated finish that resists tarnish but wears off within 6 months to 3 years, exposing brass that may cause harmless green skin discoloration and making replating uneconomical at $30–$80.
Verified claims
- Price comparison
- At $15, costs 80% less than the $95 Ross-Simons equivalent and is ideal for affordable stacking.
- Build quality
- The brass core adds heft and helps the links hold their shape, but at least one buyer found the toggle closure unreliable and lost the bracelet twice.
- Styling
- Gold finish suits mixed-metal stacking and oval-link texture adds visual rhythm.
- One-handed operation
- Toggle clasp can be fastened one-handed with minimal practice.
- Length
- 18.5 cm length provides 0.28 in more room than standard 7-in bracelets.
- Width
- 5 mm width falls in the medium tier (3–8 mm) for versatile layering.
- Material
- Brass construction provides satisfying heft for a quality feel.
- Dimensions
- 5 mm width (medium) and 18.5 cm length for versatile layering
- Stacking
- Oval-link texture, gold finish, and toggle clasp add visual interest and ease to layered stacks.
- Gold tone
- Gold-plated brass typically gives a bright gold finish with warm undertones, but the exact shade can vary by batch, so customer review photos are the most reliable color reference.
- Finish longevity
- With occasional wear and proper care, the bright gold finish typically lasts 1–2 years before the brass shows; exposed brass can leave a harmless greenish residue on skin.
- Heft
- The brass core makes the bracelet feel more substantial than many costume-metal bracelets at this price.
- Gold plating
- Gold-plated brass resists tarnish but shows brass patina after 6 months–3 years.
- Plating lifespan
- Gold plating on brass typically lasts 6 months to 3 years of regular wear before the base metal shows, though some buyers report tarnishing within the first week.
- Replating
- Replating costs $30–$80, more than the $15 purchase price, so replating is uneconomical compared with replacing the bracelet.
- Green skin marks
- Exposed brass may cause harmless green marks that wash off.
- Care
- Removing the bracelet before showering or swimming adds 30–40% to plating life.
- Everyday durability
- This bracelet is best for occasional rather than daily wear; the gold plating typically wears through within 6 months to 3 years of regular wear, and at least one buyer reports tarnishing after less than a week.
- Tarnish care routine
- To slow tarnishing, put the bracelet on last and take it off first, wipe it with a soft dry cloth after each wear, and store it in a dry, airtight pouch; the bracelet is not advertised with any protective or anti-tarnish coating.
- Clasp security adjustment
- To reduce the toggle opening, thread the T-bar straight through the loop perpendicular rather than at an angle and gently close the loop slightly so it grips the bar with friction; the clasp remains a known limitation of this style rather than a defect unique to this piece.
- Water and sweat exposure
- This gold-plated brass bracelet is not shower-, pool-, or sweat-friendly; water, chlorine, and sweat accelerate tarnishing and plating wear, so it should be removed before showering, swimming, or workouts and dried thoroughly if it gets wet.
- Fit adjustability
- The bracelet has a fixed 18.5 cm wear length; the toggle is a T-bar-and-loop closure, not an adjustable chain, so there is no extender to size it up or down.
- Stacking value
- At CA$15, buying two or three of these 5 mm bracelets to create a mixed-metal or tonal stack costs less than a single plated chain from mall-jewelry competitors.
- Price comparison with Ross-Simons
- At CA$15, this bracelet costs less than one-quarter of the Ross-Simons 14kt gold-plated oval-link bracelet (~CA$95) while sharing the same gold-plated brass construction and an oval-link silhouette.

Occasional outings, with an eye on the clasp
Per a synthesized analysis of customer reviews, this delicate oval-link bracelet works best for occasional wear rather than daily use, since its plating reportedly tarnished within about a week of wear for one reviewer. The same analysis notes the clasp may open unexpectedly, so some wearers suggest checking it often or adding a safety chain to avoid losing the bracelet.[1]
Product comparison
Compared within this brand.
| Delicate Oval-Link Bracelet: Choose this for a delicate gold-tone accessory: it is a gold-plated brass chain of elongated oval links with a toggle closure, 5 mm wide and 18.5 cm long, in one size. Per the analysis of customer reviews, it is best suited to occasional outings rather than daily wear, since one reviewer reported plating degradation within about a week, and the toggle clasp was reported to open unexpectedly, risking loss unless checked frequently or secured with an added safety chain.[1,2] | Long Hammered Oval-Link Bracelet: Choose this if you want a Simons-exclusive, Canadian-designed chain bracelet with a statement look: irregular hammered oval links with a reflective finish in a 12 mm width and 22 cm length, sized as one size in the Silver colorway. The gold-plated brass construction includes a lobster clasp with a short adjustable extender chain ending in a small bead for a flexible fit. Note that despite the gold-plated brass composition, this variant's color is listed as silver, and the hammered texture appears on most links rather than necessarily all.[3,4] | Oval-Link Solid Bracelet: Choose this if you want a gold-tone oval-link chain bracelet in gold-plated stainless steel with a polished, high-gloss finish and a snap hook closure. It comes in a single one-size fit, measuring 19.5 cm long and 8 mm wide, so it works best if that length and the substantial, relatively thick link look suit your wrist.[5,6] |

Tarnished after a few wears
The bracelet is so pretty but unfortunately, after less than a week's wear it's already tarnished.

Attention au fermoir
Il est très joli, mais je l'ai perdu 2 fois. Le fermoir n'est pas super.

Gold bracelets broke, stated solid gold but mostly hollow

Ross-Simons bracelet is lightweight and dainty compared to Jacoje
The biggest differences I see are the gram weights. The Ross Simon's bracelet is lightweight compared to the jacoje bracelet. Also the bracelet at Ross Simons is only 7 inches long and is advertised as made for a woman meaning it is dainty.
