RL used to make caps in Japanese canvas, that does tend to patina well. Or if it was more heavy duty I think they also had duck canvas ones. For Japanese canvas caps, Japanese brands do make them out of that, usually in Japan and some of the hipster outlets in the UK do stock them for a premium.
