Product Insights
Momeni's Scandi rug is a handwoven flatweave with a 1-inch pile, offering a plush underfoot feel while maintaining flatweave practicality. Its blue base with cream and sage accents creates a fresh palette, and the layered checkerboard and skewed stripe pattern makes a bold, art-like statement. The reversible construction doubles usable life and resists pile crush or adhesive failure. Made from 80/20 wool-cotton, it stays flat, resists soil, sheds less than tufted rugs, and requires vacuuming along the grain. At $928 CAD, it provides a thicker pile and more complex pattern than similarly priced competitors. Momeni, a family-run brand since 1975, has collaborated with interior designer Erin Gates since 2017, and a Momeni rug was reported in great shape after 20 years under a pool table.

Positive Momeni experience with some shedding
I really like Momeni rugs—I’ve used them for years. They are not a Target specific brand. The brand is offered at many US retailers. The Momeni rugs I have do shed especially at first. The shedding does slow time with time.

Bought Momeni rug secondhand, very pleased with quality
For what it's worth, I bought the rug for $100. It was clearly much higher quality than the $750 synthetic Wayfair rug we're replacing. I took it home & vacuumed it. It was both softer & actually seemed to give up dirt & dust better. The seller said it was under his pool table for 20 years. I'm guessing he's exaggerating a little but it's in great shape even if it's 10 years old. When you combine the price of the rug we're replacing (that didn't even last a year before getting pretty stained & gross looking), I guess I may still have gotten a bargain considering this rug at this size retails for over $1k.
