Product Insights

The Red Stripes Artisanal Rug by Mark Krebs is a handwoven flatweave from Uttar Pradesh, India, made with an 80% wool, 20% cotton blend that shares materials with a $1,449 line but costs $489 due to its dense Kilim-style weave. This construction resists dirt and matting, lies flat on hard floors without a pad, and features short, hand-knotted fringes that mark its craftsmanship. Each rug exhibits natural colour and pattern variations from the wool and cotton fibres, ensuring uniqueness. The Canadian-owned brand transparently sources rugs directly from weavers who own their looms and earn competitive per-square-foot rates, though the rugs are made in India, not Canada. The main tradeoff is that the low-pile flatweave offers durability and easy vacuuming but requires professional dry cleaning for deep stains, and the exact pile height is unspecified.

Very nice

Jennifer A.

We are very happy with this flat-weave rug. Vibrant colours are true to what you see in the picture. Quality very good, as expected. Although there is technically a right and a wrong side, it's very hard to see any difference, so to even out wear over time it could be reversed.

Magnifique!
