They are comfortable, the string you can barely feel it. Just need to buy the correct size. In my case I use medium for boxers but for thongs I use XL, specifically for pump Large for some reason

Detailed review of Pump quality, sizing, and style
PUMP is an excellent brand, the quality is high. But their underwear including their thongs tend to run smaller, accentuating your body if you’re fit, not so much if you’re not i.e. it cuts into you. I originally bought an XL when I was 110 kilos and I could barely fit into it, now I’m 89 kilos and XL is starting to feel a little loose. I’m not a fan of the large back with the small string style they have because it doesn’t look good in my opinion but I like their traditional thong - they fit well and compliment the body. The pouch holds everything for me.

Advice to size up due to snug fit
Different styles running kind of differently. But in my experience the waist is true to size. But they're are really snug. Im a 32 waist and usually do a M but I like a tighter fit. Most would probably size up.
