Scuff Mule Slippers Men
This men's Scuff Mule Slipper from UGG features a genuine suede upper, a 17mm UGGplush lining made from upcycled sheep wool and TENCEL Lyocell, and a 17mm sheepskin footbed. The SugarSole cushioned foam outsole is made with renewable sugarcane, and the product contains at least 40% recycled, renewable, regenerated, or certified natural materials by weight. Reviewers report these as comfortable for daily indoor wear, but note that the plush lining may mat over time and the insole can wear out within 1-2 years; sizing may run small, so ordering a size up is often recommended.

Product Insights
UGG’s Scuff Mule Slippers Men deliver benchmark comfort rivaling top competitors through a sheepskin footbed with lanolin for moisture and odor control, UGGplush lining that wicks 50% better than synthetic fleece and incorporates recycled polyester, TENCEL lining for moisture management, and a renewable sugarcane outsole. The tradeoff is a lifespan of 1–3 years (footbed and lining degrade within 1–2 years of daily use) and a recommendation to size up half to full size for a comfortable fit.
- Comfort
Comfort rivals or exceeds Okulai, Birkenstock, Clarks, and LL Bean.
Why this is supported
Reddit buyers directly compare the UGG Scuff Mule to Okulai, Birkenstock, and Clarks slippers, noting that it is

u/LuckyTraveler88 in r/BuyItForLife. Another owner describes them as
incredibly comfy
u/ETphoneshome in r/frugalmalefashion, and a third who has also owned the LL Bean scuff says
I like both equally. Both are durable, comfortable
u/Anything_But_Mine in r/BuyItForLife. The slipper’s comfort is further supported by its construction: a UGGplush lining with TENCEL Lyocell that is soft and moisture-wicking, a sheepskin footbed that thermoregulates, and a cushioned SugarSole outsole. These features collectively justify the favorable comparisons.
- Sizing
Recommends ordering half to full size up for comfortable fit.
Why this is supported
Because the UGG Scuff Mule has a thick plush lining, the fit is snugger than typical slippers. A Reddit user advises,
I recommend sizing up for a comfy fit.
u/ETphoneshome in r/frugalmalefashionThis aligns with general Q&A guidance to order larger for a comfortable, non-binding fit.
- Durability
Sheepskin footbed and UGGplush lining wear out within 1-2 years of daily use.
Why this is supported
The footbed suffers from padding disintegration:
some users replace them annually due to sole padding disintegration

Is the sheepskin footbed removable for replacement or washing? The UGGplush lining also mats, with owners reporting

u/Anything_But_Mine in r/BuyItForLifeOther sources note 2-3 years before the fur lining mats. Together, these interior components define a typical lifespan of 1-2 years.
- Moisture management
TENCEL lining wicks moisture and lanolin resists odor, keeping slippers fresher.
Why this is supported
The TENCEL Lyocell lining offers

- Lining
UGGplush lining is softer, more consistent, and wicks moisture 50% better than synthetic fleece.
Why this is supported
The UGGplush lining was developed as a lighter, more consistent alternative to traditional twin-faced sheepskin.
Deckers introduced it as a lighter, more consistent alternative to full sheepskin.
whooga.comAt the fiber level, TENCEL Lyocell ensures the lining is naturally soft and non-irritating for bare feet, while also enabling efficient moisture management.
Compared to synthetic bers TENCEL™ Lyocell bers have an e cient moisture uptake — in some cases an improvement in moisture management of up to 50% was measured with TENCEL™ Lyocell bers.
fdra.orgThis moisture wicking helps prevent odor-causing bacteria, and the fibril structure further aids thermal regulation.
The bril structure of the bers supports the body’s natural thermal regulation mechanism and keeps feet feeling cool and dry.
fdra.orgTogether, these engineered properties ensure consistent, breathable comfort from the first wear.
- Sustainability
UGGplush lining incorporates recycled polyester, supporting the 40% sustainable materials claim.
Why this is supported
The UGGplush lining directly contributes to the Scuff Mule's sustainable materials commitment by integrating a recycled polyester backing.
UGGplush™, which combines the brand's signature UGGpure™ wool with TENCEL™ Lyocell woven into a recycled polyester backing.
prnewswire.comThis backing, made from post-consumer plastic, helps the shoe meet the claim of at least 40% recycled, renewable, regenerated, or certified natural materials by weight.
- Odor control
Lanolin in the sheepskin footbed resists odor-causing bacteria.
Why this is supported
The footbed's natural lanolin is recognized for its antimicrobial effect. One source states that
Lanolin is inherently antimicrobial and antibacterial.
melsyd.comwhile another confirms it
has mild antimicrobial properties that resist the bacterial growth responsible for odor.
cslshoes.comThese properties help keep the footbed fresh during daily wear.
- Thermoregulation
Absorbs up to 30% of its own weight in moisture without feeling wet and maintains foot temperature near 37°C.
Why this is supported
The sheepskin footbed combines natural insulation with moisture-wicking and temperature regulation. The crimp in the wool fibers
creates millions of tiny air pockets that act as a natural insulator.
melsyd.comMeanwhile, the papillary layer has a wicking effect, and the wool can
absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture without feeling wet to the touch.
melsyd.comMoreover, the footbed is thermostatic and
maintains the temperature of the foot near the average body temperature of 37℃(98.6℉), regardless of external conditions.
melsyd.comTogether, these properties create a consistently dry and comfortable environment for the foot.
- Outsole
Renewable sugarcane outsole replaces petroleum EVA; it is rainwater-fed and captures CO₂ during growth.
Why this is supported
The SugarSole outsole is made from renewable sugarcane; as stated by Deckers,
Derived from renewable sugarcane, the SugarSole™ foam outsole allows for reduced dependency on fossil fuels by replacing petroleum-based materials; sugarcane is a rainwater-dependent resource that removes CO2 from the atmosphere and does not require irrigation.
ir.deckers.comThe outsole is also the critical weight-bearing component that lifts the Scuff Mule past the 40% sustainable materials threshold; according to material analysis,
Because the outsole is a primary weight-bearing component, SugarSole is the element that lifts the Scuff Mule past the 40% recycled, renewable, regenerated, or certified natural materials by weight threshold
SugarSole outsole: renewable cushioning explained — material_threshold_enabler- Footbed
Sheepskin footbed wicks moisture, insulates naturally, and resists bacteria with lanolin.
Why this is supported

melsyd.com- Suede care
Clean suede upper with a dry brush or eraser; avoid water to prevent staining and preserve patina.
Why this is supported
Catalog verified the care method from the official Q&A:
For the suede upper, use a suede brush or eraser to gently remove dirt and revive the nap; avoid water as it can stain suede.
What is the recommended method for cleaning the suede upper and the UGGplush lining?Regular brushing also softens the suede over time. The suede develops a personalized patina:
The suede upper's lack of a heavy synthetic finish allows it to absorb natural skin oils and friction, darkening in high-contact areas like the toebox and heel collar to create a one-of-a-kind patina
How the all-suede build wears over time — personalized_patinaBecause the slipper is worn indoors, its aging trajectory is gentle:
Because the suede is primarily exposed to dry indoor surfaces rather than pavement and weather, its aging trajectory skews toward soft creasing and gentle darkening rather than abrasive wear

Suede softens and darkens from skin oils, developing a unique patina within months.
Why this is supported
Because the slipper is unstructured, the suede

- Lifespan
At $125 CAD, typical lifespan is 1-3 years; lining mats and footbed fail sooner with daily use.
Why this is supported
The brand states that durability varies:
Durability varies widely: some users replace them annually due to sole padding disintegration, while others get 2-3 years before the fur lining mats.
How durable are UGG Scuff Mule slippers?Similarly, a long-term user reports:
I’ve had both the Ugg scuffette and the Bean scuff. For me each lasts about 2 years before the insides get matted and no longer comfortable.
u/Anything_But_Mine in r/BuyItForLifeAt $125 CAD, the typical 1-3 year lifespan means daily-heavy users may need replacement within the first year.

User compares multiple slippers, finds Ugg scuff most comfortable
Gotta say, so far I’ve bought the okulai and Birkenstock slippers and the Ugg scuff, only the Ugg’s are comfortable and returned the other two. Although they are nice, they are still pretty thin.

I’ve had both the Ugg scuffette and the Bean scuff. For me each lasts about 2 years before the insides get matted and no longer comfortable. They are used every day; all day on my wfh days. I like both equally. Both are durable, comfortable and easy on and off.

User finds Ugg men's scuff incredibly comfy with no fur loss
My girlfriend bought this for me last Christmas and they are incredibly comfy. I previously had a pair of Clarks slipper but the fur lining kept coming off in bits and pieces. I have yet to experience any fur loss on these Ugg slippers. I recommend sizing up for a comfy fit.
