I have both and they’re equally comfortable! As a piece of side advice, I would recommend getting a leather boat shoe as the suede ones become easily damaged.

Break-in is long and painful, but post-break-in comfort and leather quality outshine Sperry
Sebago vs Sperries. So, I never owned a pair of Sperries. Before buying my first pair of Sebagos though, I did some research, and it all seemed to confirm that Sperries are more comfortable than Sebago (due to the cushioning) and easier to break in. However, Sperries will look weathered after some time, which some people like. I don't like the weathered look, so I went for Sebagos, which are unlined and notoriously carry a long break-in period. I can confirm the break-in period with Sebagos is long and painful, but once they mold to your feet, they become super comfortable, even for long walks. No blisters, no back pain, just pure enjoyment.

Huge fan here. For life. I grew up wearing Sebago and Sperry boats and I still have a pair of “Horween leather” Sebagos in the closet that were under $60 shipped from Amazon in 2015. They get out quite a bit in the summer unless, like you said, I’m doing any real walking. The soles just aren’t supportive enough to cover any real ground in them but they are perfect for kicking around in a classic boat shoe look.

With proper rotation, Sebago Docksides are rock solid; superior leather and sole grip vs. Sperry
My first pair of docksides, bought circa 2013, I wore literally every day all summer. Because of that poor treatment, the left shoe popped a stitch on the moc stitch, right where it flexes next to my big toe (tbf, I also have wide feet and an enormous big toe knuckle due to past gout issues). But once I got a second pair and started alternating, they've been rock solid. (A second stitch popped eventually, but the other pair still looks perfect. Lesson learned: don't abuse your shoes, especially when they're still breaking in!) That original pair is still my favorite, so they still get nearly 50% every spring/summer. Meanwhile, the Sperry topsiders I also bought around the same time have had to have the back part of their insoles re-glued with Shoe Goo at least once. It's a common problem with the base model Sperrys; not sure if their Gold Cup line is any better? Also I feel like the leather isn't as nice on the Sperrys, though it has held up ok. I should also mention, the design of the Sperry sole, while classic and arguably preferred for for actual sailing, gets slippery as heck after a while on regular dry surfaces. Whereas the Sebagos have just enough tread gap to grip a bit on grass etc.

Stiff initially but break in nicely; true to size, superior leather to Sperry
I bought a pair of dark brown ones a year ago for $40 at Nordstrom Rack. I went tts and did find them stiff. However, after breaking them in they've become quite comfortable and I find the leather to be superior to the one used in Sperrys. They've also been holding up pretty well with no problems (casual wear to school, mall, etc).
