Larson Weejuns Black Loafers Men
The G.H. Bass Larson Weejun is a classic men's penny loafer with a premium genuine leather upper, moccasin toe, and traditional beefroll stitching. It features Goodyear welt construction for durability, a double-density foam footbed, and a leather outsole with a rubberized heel for grip. Intended for dressy and business-casual wear, user reviews indicate that the shoes may require a break-in period and that sizing can vary, with some wearers recommending ordering a half size down.

Product Insights
The Larson Weejuns Black Loafers from G.H. Bass embody the original penny loafer with true handsewn moccasin construction and a Goodyear welt that allows resoling, offering a slimmer silhouette and the generational cachet of an 80-year subcultural staple. Their core promise is a blend of iconic design and practical comfort: an unlined, lightweight build with a foam footbed that cushions from first wear, improves breathability, and reduces fatigue, while the Blake stitch sole remains replaceable. However, the main tradeoff is between heritage aesthetics and material quality—the smooth corrected-grain leather has a sealed pigmented finish that resists stains but cracks rather than patinating, and the fit requires weeks of painful break-in with only medium (D) width available, potentially compounding slip for wider feet. At CAD 290, they undercut comparable American handsewn loafers by nearly $100, delivering a culturally resonant, resoleable shoe that prioritizes comfort and longevity over premium leather feel.
Verified claims
- Cultural legacy

- Shoe profile
- Slimmer silhouette from flush sole and handsewn moccasin upper.

- Value
- At CAD 290, Weejuns undercut American handsewn loafers by nearly $100 and carry generational cachet as the original penny loafer.

- Weight
- Eliminating the lining reduces weight and increases sole flexibility for all-day wear.

Weejuns cause foot pain but are loved for looks
Just bought Weejuns and love how they look. I've only worn them a couple of times because the second time I walked a lot and the back of my feet were killing me. Going to get inserts and keep trying. Love how they look but I need them to not kill my feet.

Sizing down reduces heel slip but causes initial tightness
I ordered the Weejun penny lug loafers TTS and a size down. I have pretty slim feet and ankles so the tts my feet were just slipping out the shoe even with thick socks. The size down is kinda painful and tight rn but my feet don't slip out and i think as i break em in they will fit great.

Weejuns are nice looking and great for narrow feet despite cheapish sole
After seeing loads of negative comments on forums about the current Bass Weejuns, I ended up trying a pair and loving them. The 2 key positives for me: 1. The Weejuns in natural looking leathers are actually....really nice looking. On the Bass website, it's easy to differentiate between the natural leathers and those with the heavy artificial shine finish. 2. Weejuns fit slightly narrower feet great and are very comfortable. I do fine in D width laceups, but have a perpetual problem with loafers where my normal size feels like it's slipping off but sizing down feels wrongly small. Weejuns hug your feet really well in your normal, Brannock-measured size, and work if your feet are slightly narrow/low volume. I do wish they'd put on a better leather sole....even though a thinner, less serious sole can work on loafers, the Weejun sole does somehow feel a little cheapish.

Weejuns are garbage compared to similarly priced competitors
Been saying they're garbage for years. They're just a popular name from back when. We carry them, along with several other loafer brands at a comparable price with way higher quality, and any time I'm asked to grab a Weejun I just also grab the others and show the client how bad they are. It usually works lmao
