Camion Leather Boots Men

The Our Legacy Camion boots are men's ankle boots crafted in Portugal from Italian leather with a padded footbed, inner-side zip closure, and embossed non-skid rubber outer sole. They are designed for casual, everyday wear as a fashion-forward boot. Reviews note that while comfortable and stylish, the cemented sole construction and pigmented leather finish on some colorways may require maintenance, and the stock sole offers limited traction on snow and ice.

Product Insights

The Camion Leather Boots Men by Our Legacy is a minimalist, side-zip boot that serves as a recognized signifier among menswear insiders, offering a design that pairs as easily with suits as with denim. The boot's core promise lies in its aniline full-grain leather, which develops a natural patina over time, and its comfort from first wear with no break-in. However, the main tradeoff is its construction: buyers report sole separation within months, requiring cobbler stitching, and the pigmented coating on the Olive version flakes, reducing resale value, while the Black aniline does not chip but absorbs moisture and requires specific aniline cleaners. At 875 CAD, the cemented sole contrasts with stitched alternatives at lower prices, yet the design and styling are deemed to outweigh the construction flaws.

Verified claims

Sole construction
Buyers report sole separation from the upper within months, requiring cobbler stitching.
Coating flaking
Olive Camion's pigmented coating flakes; black aniline does not.
Resale value
Flaking drastically reduces resale value; owners advise selling early.
Traction
Dangerously slippery on snow and ice; lug sole replacement advised.
Aniline finish
Aniline-dyed calf leather absorbs water and alkaline cleaners permanently but does not chip.
Aging
Full-grain aniline leather develops patina with use; natural markings and wear are intentional.
Breathability
Breathable aniline leather is comfortable in temperature but absorbs moisture.
Design philosophy
Wearer completes the boot's design through use.
Care
Use only aniline-specific cleaners; household cleaners strip the dye.
Fit
Wide and generous fit, ideal for average-to-wide feet.
Sizing
True to men's EU sizing; women size down one full size.
Break-in
Comfortable from the first wear, no break-in needed.
Long-term comfort
Buyers report boots remain comfortable after two years of daily wear.
Brand heritage
Our Legacy's 20-year design heritage includes LVMH backing and the Camion as a signature silhouette.
Design and styling
Minimalist side-zip boot with square toe, understated enough for suits and rugged for denim.
Side zip design
Side-zip entry eliminates laces to preserve an unbroken full-leather upper.
Ease of use
Zipper entry makes boots easier to put on and remove than lace-ups.
Cultural signifier
Side-zip silhouette is a recognized signifier among menswear insiders.
Versatility
Pairs with light-wash denim and trucker jackets to pinstripe suits and knit polos.
Value trade-off
Buyers say the Camion's design outweighs its construction; cheaper alternatives don't look as good.
Construction value
At 875 CAD, the cemented sole needs cobbler; rivals offer stitched soles for less.
Daily comfort
Josepht Maro is ~1/3 price with Vibram sole for daily comfort.
Construction durability
Guidi hand‑stitches avoid the Camion's cemented‑sole failure.

Reddit users appreciate the Our Legacy Camion boots for their sleek design and versatility but widely criticize their poor durability, cheap cemented construction, and overpricing, with the olive colorway's paint chipping being a particular pain point.

Positive comments focus on aesthetics and comfort, but they are outweighed by numerous reports of construction issues, rapid wear, and consensus that the boots do not justify their high price.

  • Two-year durability review: comfortable but require cobbler fixes

I've worn the black leather ones for almost two years as well now and I have a similar experience. Wear them about 3-4 days a week every season, no hiking though. Brought them to a cobbler twice. Once to have them stitched through as the leather was coming apart from the sole and once to have the heel rubber replaced. Although I have to agree that for the money you shouldn't have a cemented construction, they still look like new and are extremely comfortable. Recently got the brown americano pair as well. They're a bit too expensive for what they are but I'm really happy I got them as I enjoy wearing them a lot. Yes there are cheaper alternatives but none of them look as good imo.

  • Olive Camion owner regrets purchase due to paint chipping

I have a pair of olive Camions & am selling them for pretty much for this exact reason. They’re not bad boots by any stretch, but also not worth anything close to their price tag. The paint chipping will get worse. When this first happened with mine I thought maybe I just nicked them on a curb. Now that chipping has spread pretty badly. It’s just not a good quality coating/paint. If the chipping bothers you, you’re better off selling them now while they’ll still in good condition. Camions are beautiful. They’re popular for a reason. But they’re just not rugged enough to be a daily driver. They’re a date night boot & that’s about it.

  • QC concerns are overblown; pay for design not construction

I’m of two minds here: on the one hand, they’re leather boots. They’re gonna get scuffed and marked up anyway, it’s part of the product description, and often adds character. They’re fine. On the other, you bought boots from a fashion brand. You’re paying for the design, not the construction.

  • Deep Americano colorway: promising alternative to olive with better durability hopes

Just got Our Legacy's new color of Camion boots through the door and I'm very happy with them. They're a very deep/dark brown. Darker than I was expecting but I'm happy about it. They still give off a warm brown when paired with earth tones but can be used in place of black boots as well for darker and colder tones. Crossing my fingers that these don't have the same flaking issues that the Olive Brown ones have, I picked these up as an alternative. I wanted a brown Our Legacy boot in my collection without the problems inherent to the Olive Brown.

  • Josepht boots as a comfortable, budget-friendly alternative

I know I’m late but I really like these, I wear them pretty much daily. As a budget friendly alt to Camions they do the job for sure plus the sole is vibram which is much more comfortable versus Camions, and I say this as someone who owns both: https://josepht.ca/products/maro-crack-brown
