Only on sale imo. The waterproof aspect is nice, the slip-on aspect is nice, and they style with many outfits. On the other hand they have poor traction (slips on ice and snow, not good for hiking) poor support, and once they're past their prime you can't really repair them.

They aren’t easily resoled, but they will generally last pretty well. If you like the style you should consider redback boots as an alternative, they are made of thicker leather and have more cushioning (if you like that). There are also mongrel and Rossi boots, all of these are made in Australia rather than the Blundstones which are made in Vietnam I think.

Most comfortable footwear despite QC issues and style concerns
I think they are. Not the most stylish and QC could be better (I've had issues, sadly). But there are the most comfortable footwear I have ever tried. The only footwear I can wear all day and walking long distance (compared with Nike, Adidas, Clarks, etc)

u/sam_the_samsung_user Blundstone nubuck boots owner here. Yes you do want to take care of them. It depends on how often dirty you may get them. It doesn't need to be every week. I get my products all on amazon. You don't need the Blundstone care products. That was them trying to upsell you to buy more of their products lol 🤣! Yea they're good stuff, but you don't have to get them. There's many other brands out there that are great for maintaining the longevity of your boots. Cleaning and conditioning your boots actually extends the life of your leather boots. Because when you don't at all, they won't last as long as you'd expect them too. People can do what they want though since it's their boots. So you can do whatever you want 🙂

2429 lace performance: good ankle support but slippery on wet rocks
Lots of hiking in mud and slick, but no snow yet! Ankle support is good, I like that it still allows me to be mobile and isn't too stiff, especially now that the leather has fully broken in. I did slip and fall on a large wet rock in Scotland that my partner had no problem with, she has the upgraded vibram tread on her slip-on blundstones, I would have purchased that if it was offered as they're definitely a bit stickier. That being said, I wouldn't consider these mountaineering or backpacking boots, but great everyday boots that are also perfectly serviceable for most hikes you'd throw at them. The woman who fitted me at the blundstone store said that one of her customers, who was a firefighter, brought a bunch of his coworkers back to get them because he loves them so much. If that tells you anything
