  • THE FOUR-IN-HAND KNOT

THIS NARROW KNOT IS THE MOST POPULAR. IT WORKS WITH THE MAJORITY OF TIES AND IS PERFECT FOR THE TAB/ENGLISH COLLAR, AMERICAN COLLAR, AND FRENCH COLLAR.

WHILE LOOKING AT YOURSELF IN THE MIRROR, PLACE THE WIDE END OF THE TIE ON YOUR RIGHT SIDE AND POSITION IT SO IT HANGS ABOUT 30 CM LOWER THAN THE NARROW END.

CROSS THE WIDE END OVER THE NARROW END,
AND THEN WRAP IT UNDERNEATH TO THE RIGHT.

CONTINUE TO WRAP THE WIDER END AROUND THE NARROW END BY CROSSING IT OVER THE FRONT OF THE NARROW END ONCE MORE.

PULL THE WIDE END UP OVER THE KNOT LOOP FROM THE UNDERSIDE OF THE KNOT LOOP.

KEEPING THE KNOT LOOP LOOSE WITH THE HELP OF YOUR INDEX FINGER, PULL THE WIDE END DOWN THROUGH THE KNOT LOOP.

REMOVE YOUR FINGER AND CAREFULLY TIGHTEN THE KNOT. ADJUST IT TO FIT YOUR SHIRT COLLAR BY PULLING ON THE NARROW END.

  • THE STRAIGHT FOLD
  • TRICK

YOUR POCKET SQUARE MAY SLIP DOWN TO THE VERY BOTTOM TO OF YOUR POCKET. TO ENSURE THAT IT LOOKS RIGHT, INSERT A PIECE OF CARDBOARD INTO YOUR FOLDING THAT IS THE SAME SIZE AS YOUR JACKET POCKET.

  • THE POUF FOLD

    Definitely the simplest to do,
this is a fold that is ideal for silk pocket squares.

Spread out your pocket square on a flat surface.

Grip the square in the centre using your thumb and index finger.

Raise it up using one hand.

Pinch it in the centre using the other hand.

Then, fold the bottom of the square up to the middle.

Slide the pocket square into your jacket pocket

  • TRICK

TO ENSURE THAT THE POCKET SQUARE DOESN’T BULGE IN YOUR JACKET POCKET, POSITION IT SO THAT IT FILLS THE POCKET COMPLETELY.

  • ONE POINT FOLD

Forming an elegant point, this fold works well with cotton, linen, and wool pocket squares. Silk is not recommended for this type of fold.

    Lay the pocket square flat.

Fold the square in half horizontally and vertically, then rotate it so that it looks like a diamond.

Fold the left side in towards the centre and then do the same thing with the right side.

Fold the bottom of the pocket square up to the centre.

Place the pocket square in your jacket pocket and adjust it!

  • STEPS

    1. CAREFULLY UNTIE YOUR TIE. NEVER UNDO IT BY PULLING ON IT.

    2. STORE THEM BY ROLLING THEM UP OR BY HANGING THEM ON A TIE RACK. THIS WAY, THEY WILL LOOSE THE WRINKLES MADE BY THE KNOT.
