Product Insights

The Sporty & Rich Signature T-Shirt, originally priced at $150 and now $79.95, is a premium basic made in Portugal with a ribbed crew neck and durable screen print, offering a distinctive streetwear look with a bold cursive logo. Its ribbed collar resists bacon-necking and fit recovers after washes, though the tee shrinks half a size in length with warm washes (cold wash prevents it). However, the tradeoff involves inconsistent quality—some buyers report tees falling apart despite proper care—along with unethical founder behavior, poor customer service, and a brand aesthetic mocked as corny. Additionally, some buyers perceive the fabric feel as akin to cheap Hanes blanks, and while the manufacturing origin suggests ethical production, there are allegations of greenwashing.

Deep Research

How the regular fit actually fits

  • The ribbed construction of the neckline lets the collar stretch for easy on‑off and then contract back to its original shape; this resistance to ‘bacon‑necking’ keeps the tee looking crisp around the face even after frequent wearing and washing.
  • Like most 100% cotton knits that haven’t been aggressively preshrunk, this tee will lose about a half‑size in length after the first few warm‑wash cycles — enough that if you are on the upper edge of Large, the XL that is currently available would give you the intended relaxed look without ending up too short.
  • Cotton jersey has enough mechanical give to follow your movement without binding, yet the fibres’ memory means the tee won’t permanently bag out; after a wash it snaps back to the regular‑fit silhouette, so it stays true to size through months of wear.

Care guide for cotton jersey tees

  • Hanging the tee stretches the ribbed crew neck and can create permanent shoulder bumps that distort the regular fit’s clean lines — folding instead protects the neckline’s shape and extends the garment’s life as a crisp, uniform layering piece.
  • The ivory base can yellow or become dull when exposed to chlorine bleach; using an oxygen-based (sodium percarbonate) spot treatment or soak removes organic marks without stripping the dye or degrading the screen print, preserving the signature desaturated, vintage-leaning tone that gives the tee its aesthetic.
  • Machine-drying on high heat can cause 100% cotton jersey to shrink by up to a full size and gradually stiffen the handfeel — air-drying flat or tumble-drying on low heat (below 55°C) maintains the tee's intended regular silhouette and the soft, lived-in texture that defines its everyday wearability.
  • Washing at or below 30°C and limiting spin speed to 800 RPM reduces fiber agitation and thermal stress on the cotton and the ribbed crew neck, keeping the regular fit stable and the neckline resilient instead of allowing the progressive looseness that hot water and high-speed spin cycles introduce over time.

How it compares to similar premium tees

  • Originally priced at $150 CAD, the tee was positioned in the luxury basics segment alongside brands like Sunspel and Zimmerli; the sale price at $79.95 CAD brings it into competition with accessible premium brands like Cos and Everlane, while retaining the cachet of designer-level studio branding and European production.
  • While most premium basics brands like James Perse and Buck Mason focus on logo-free designs, the Signature T-Shirt delivers a screen-printed cursive logo front and back, offering the graphic appeal of streetwear labels such as Aimé Leon Dore without the $120+ CAD price tag those brands command for similar heritage-inspired prints.
  • Manufactured in Portugal, a country known for high-quality cotton textiles and ethical production, this tee sits in a supply chain tier above the Asian-sourced blanks used by Everlane and Uniqlo, aligning it more closely with premium labels like Reigning Champ and Portuguese Flannel that regularly retail above $100 CAD.

Q&A

1 answered
Are the prints on the front and back screen-printed or using a different method, and how durable are they over multiple washes?
The prints on the front and back are screen-printed. Reviewers note that Sporty & Rich graphics are generally screen-printed with care and tend to hold up well, resisting cracking or fading over multiple washes when cared for properly [2]. For best durability, we recommend turning the shirt inside out and washing on a gentle cycle.

  • Negative reception of Sporty & Rich brand due to founder controversies and quality issues

The founder of this company is horrible! There used to be an ig called NotSportyandRich that had soooo many receipts from customers that would send in how they either never got their orders, design plagiarism, extremely long wait times, received poor quality pieces falling apart with the high price tags, and rude customer service. At some point the IG got shut down but Emily is notorious for greenwashing. The account had a large following I wouldn’t be surprised if Emily served a cease and desist.

  • Store opening experience reveals declining quality and possible use of cheap blanks

Hi! I was there when they opened. The store was actually really well done, however they were making people stand outside for over 2 hours for the purpose of making it look packed. The security told me that only 12 people were allowed in at a time… Emily was there and I interacted with her once and she was very cold. Also the quality has gone WAY down. This is clearly Hanes blanks. Everything was also pre packed in cheap plastic…
