Product Insights
DJAB's Camo Ripstop Convertible Cargo Pant, imported from Seoul, is a workwear-inspired streetwear piece that converts from a baggy cargo to a jogger taper to Bermuda shorts via knee zippers, preserving oversized cargo pockets for a utility-core look. The 6.5–7.7 oz/yd² 100% cotton ripstop delivers a crisp, boxy drape and breathability, but requires cold washing and line drying to prevent 3–5% shrinkage and maintain fit and color. Sizing at usual size, or size down for a cleaner silhouette, mirrors Korean streetwear's extremely wide proportions. The direct-from-Seoul origin, Korean textile quality standards, and exclusive silhouette adjustability—via elastic waist and drawstring ankles—justify the $125 CAD price, with the main tradeoff being the delicate care needed to preserve the fabric's integrity.
- Sizing
Order usual size; size down if between sizes for cleaner silhouette.
Why this is supported
The baggy cut compensates for Korean sizing, so ordering your usual US/EU size is recommended.

- Tear resistance
100% cotton ripstop with reinforcement grid prevents tear spread.
Why this is supported
Catalog verified that the ripstop fabric uses reinforcement threads spaced
5 to 8 mm apart
propper.com, which ensure that
when the fabric catches on something sharp, the reinforcement threads contain the damage to a small area instead of letting it run across the garment.
ripstopfabric.comThis evidence from textile-industry sources confirms that the fabric's construction prevents small snags from becoming large rips.
The research notes that,
the Djab uses 100% cotton ripstop — a fabric that delivers a heavier, more structured drape and a non-synthetic hand feel, intentionally positioning the pants for workwear-inspired streetwear rather than backcountry performance.
Value compared to other convertible cargo pants — 100_cotton_ripstop_vs_nylon_standardThis confirms the material choice prioritizes streetwear aesthetics over outdoor functionality.
- Weight & drape
Weighs 6.5–7.7 oz/yd² with crisp, boxy drape that doesn't collapse.
Why this is supported
Multiple sources agree on a weight range:
6.5 oz
bandjfabrics.comto
7.67 oz
simplififabric.com. This weight contributes to the fabric's drape; a review describes it as
the ripstop’s light, dry hand keeps the pants standing away from the leg with a crisp, boxy drape that doesn’t collapse into soft slouch over time.
How the baggy silhouette wears in real life — 100_cotton_ripstopThe convergence of weight data and drape description validates that the cotton ripstop balances lightness with shape retention.
- Breathability & care
Breathable ripstop; shrinks 3–5% in heat; requires cold wash and line dry.
Why this is supported
A textile source states that
Cotton ripstop: Uses natural fibers for breathability and comfort but may shrink or fade faster than synthetics.

Ripstop cotton is generally machine washable in cold water and can be tumble dried on low, but we recommend washing these pants inside out and avoiding high heat to preserve the fabric and drawstrings.
Can the pants be machine washed and tumble dried, or do they require special care due to the ripstop fabric? These sources together confirm the breathability-care tradeoff and the proper maintenance to avoid shrinkage.
- Market positioning
Workwear-inspired streetwear, not backcountry hiking.
Why this is supported
Outdoor convertible pants typically use nylon, as exemplified by

- Quality standards
Korean textile quality standards require dye fastness and seam integrity.

- Exclusivity
Direct-from-Seoul origin signals boutique authenticity, justifying price.
Why this is supported
The product's 'Imported from Seoul' tagline is reinforced by the statement
Djab Imported from Seoul exclusively at Djab

- Design

Why this is supported
The knee zipper delivers a

- Silhouette options
Three silhouettes from one pant: wide cargo drape, jogger taper, and Bermuda shorts.
Why this is supported
The drawstring ankles allow
The drawcord at each hem lets you cinch the leg opening from a wide aperture to a narrow taper, shifting the pant between a classic 90s skate‑cargo drape and a jogger‑stacked sneaker fit — two distinct silhouettes from one garment.

The knee‑height zippers split the pant into full‑length cargo and Bermuda‑short lengths

- Pocket continuity
Giant cargo pockets stay on the thigh when zipped, preserving the utility-core look.
Why this is supported
The cargo pockets are mounted on the thigh section that remains after zipping:
The oversized side cargo pockets add structural bulk to the thigh, widening the visual mass so the baggy silhouette comes off as intentional utility‑core excess
How the baggy silhouette wears in real life — giant_cargo_pocketsThis way the shorts retain the same purposeful bulk.
- Silhouette adjustability
Elastic waist and drawstring ankles toggle between full baggy and jogger-stacked fit.
Why this is supported
By adjusting the waist and ankles, the pants can shift their silhouette:

The elastic waist can be worn high and cinched to create a pronounced dropped‑crotch look that amplifies the baggy streetwear volume, or relaxed on the hips for a lower‑rise, slouchier stance — the waist effectively controls the pant’s overall attitude.

- Fabric
Cotton ripstop's light, dry hand maintains a crisp, boxy silhouette.
Why this is supported
The fabric's properties support the baggy shape:

- Korean streetwear influence
Korean streetwear proportions: extremely wide through the leg compared to typical baggy cargos.
Why this is supported
These pants are designed with oversized proportions inspired by Korean streetwear:
these pants translate Korean streetwear’s affinity for extreme oversized proportions directly into the cut, so they sit significantly wider through the leg than most North American baggy‑fit cargos
