Product Insights
Simons Maison's Croc-Skin Placemat offers an exclusive, glossy croc-embossed design at $10 each, sold individually for flexible buying. Its 100% polyurethane construction wipes clean and resists stains, but the material may slide on smooth surfaces, warp above 90°C, and scratch over time (though light scratches often buff out), making it a fashion-forward yet practical tradeoff against luxury alternatives.
Verified claims
- Price comparison
- $10 per mat, roughly one-quarter the price of luxury croc placemats.
- Flexibility
- Sold individually, so shoppers buy the exact number needed.
- Design
- Rectangular faux-crocodile animal-print placemat with a glossy croc-embossed 100% polyurethane surface, a stitched perimeter, and a 12.5 x 18 in (32 x 46 cm) footprint, exclusive to Simons Maison.
- Everyday practicality
- 100% polyurethane: wipes clean easily, but may slide, warp with heat, and scratch over time.
- Finish
- High-gloss finish amplifies croc embossing for a lacquered, fashion-forward look under light.
- Exclusivity
- Simons Maison exclusive designed in Canada, adding a fashion-editorial stamp.
- Scratch resistance
- The glossy surface may show light utensil scratches over time, but minor marks typically buff out or are not noticeable at a distance.
- Stain resistance
- The non-porous 100% polyurethane surface resists stains from spills and needs only damp cloth cleaning.
- Heat tolerance
- Very hot dishes straight from the oven may warp the polyurethane; use trivets or hot pads for extremely hot cookware.
- Sliding
- No non-slip backing; the underside is the same polyurethane as the top, so it may slide on smooth table surfaces.
- Spill resistance
- The non-porous polyurethane surface makes wine, coffee, and oily sauce spills bead up so they can be wiped clean with a damp cloth rather than soaking in.
- Care
- No conditioning required; the non-porous polyurethane surface lets spills bead up and wipe clean with a damp cloth.
- Shape
- Narrower than 15-inch round placemats and aligns with rectangular tables.
- Dishwasher safety
- Not dishwasher safe; the care instructions specify wiping clean with a damp cloth only, so avoid dishwasher heat and detergent.

| Croc-Skin Placemat: Choose this if you want a glossy, croc-embossed placemat in a dark Chocolate/Espresso shade for your table. It measures 12.5 by 18 inches (32 x 46 cm), is made of 100% polyurethane with a stitched border, and wipes clean easily with a damp cloth. Its look is leather-like with a smooth face, though the finish is glossy rather than a true leather material.[1,2,3] | Rectangular Faux-Leather Placemat: Choose this for everyday meals with frequent spills: reviewers report the non-porous 100% polyurethane surface wipes clean with a damp cloth, resists stains, and its backing grips the table so it stays put. It also works for dressier settings, with a realistic grain texture, deep colours across six shades in a 12.5 by 18 inch rectangle, and an elegant look that reviewers say draws compliments, plus years of use without fading for most. Note the material is thin, so it can crease or permanently mark under heavy pots or sharp cutlery (it is not a substitute for a trivet or cutting board), a few buyers received units with creases from shipping, and the shade may not exactly match online photos.[4,5] | Herringbone Pattern Faux-Leather Placemat: Choose this if you want a round, black herringbone-pattern placemat with a modern geometric look that Simons says easily matches any decor, and reviewers describe as a rich, earthy accent that looks as pictured. Made of 100% polyurethane faux leather in a 15-inch (38 cm) diameter, it wipes clean with a damp cloth, and reviewers report spills wipe away without staining and that its weight keeps it in place as a formal table centerpiece. Reviewers also note the material feels substantial and well-made, though their weight is cited as giving confidence in durability rather than a verified long-term result.[6,7] |
