Product Insights
The Mixer Glass Door Metallic Sideboard is Mustard's 799 CAD alcove piece — 29.5 in wide at the same 40 cm depth as The Midi and Collector — positioned as a drinks cabinet, kitchen buffet or sideboard that deliberately blurs concealing and revealing: fluted tempered-glass doors turn contents into soft silhouettes, near-opaque beyond roughly 20-30 cm, while passing about 70-85% of visible light so the cabinet stays bright, with an interior lamp converting the doors into an even glow and solid forms and colour blocks reading as curated shapes while fine print and book spines disappear. The ribs are rolled into the pane itself, so the pattern cannot peel, fade or wear; one key on a custom Mustard enamel keyring locks both doors, magnetic catches keep them shut for daily use without it, and the powder-coated steel body carries a matte finish that hides minor scuffs across six seasonless shades — Slate pre-selected on the page, Slate and Chalk the only neutrals, Sage Green, Poppy, Blush and Butter the saturated accents — all six shipping in one size at one price, descended from a vintage roadside locker find and built to outlast trends rather than as a retro remake. The 88 lb top carries about 60% more than a shelf, enough for a mid-size TV on a stand or one dense display piece, and each 55 lb shelf takes about 20 wine bottles or a few cast-iron pieces, with heavy sets split across both. The tradeoff is ownership care and assembly: the coat runs thin at sharp edges so door and cabinet corners chip first and rust where moisture stands, standing water must be kept off the steel, a damaged door requires a whole new tempered fluted pane because it cannot be cut or reworked on site, online swatches are only a guide with Mustard advising a physical sample, and the 24.2 kg unit arrives flat-packed in one box with all hardware but no wall fixings, realistically needing two people and roughly 1 to 4 hours to move and build, then buyer-supplied masonry plugs or drywall toggles to satisfy Mustard's own anchoring warning that children have died from furniture toppling — all on a record holding two reviews.
Verified claims
- Privacy
- Fluted glass blurs contents into soft silhouettes, near-opaque beyond about 20-30 cm
- Display effect
- Solid forms and colour blocks read as curated shapes; fine print and book spines disappear
- Light transmission
- The fluted doors pass about 70-85% of visible light, keeping the cabinet bright rather than dark
- Fluted glass
- Ribs are rolled into the tempered pane itself, so the pattern cannot peel, fade or wear away
- Material
- Powder-coated steel and glass, finished in a matte powder coat that hides minor scuffs.
- Edge wear
- Powder coating runs thin at sharp edges, so door and cabinet corners chip first; inspect them on arrival.
- Cleaning
- Clean the matte powder coat with a soft damp cloth and mild detergent; abrasives dull it.
- Moisture exposure
- Keep the steel body away from standing water and long-term moisture to avoid rust.
- Scratch and rust
- The matte powder coat chips to bare steel and rusts where moisture stands; dry spills and keep the cabinet clear of prolonged moisture to preserve it.
- Design lineage
- Descends from a vintage roadside locker find and built to outlast trends, not a retro remake.
- Design features
- Every variant has vertically fluted glass doors, medallion handles, a custom enamel keyring and adjustable feet; the body is powder-coated steel.
- Variant selection
- All six colours ship in one size at the same 799 CAD, differing only in tone.
- Color accuracy
- Online swatches are a guide only; Mustard advises ordering a physical sample.
- Default color
- Slate is pre-selected on the page; the other five tones must be switched deliberately.
- Color longevity
- The palette is seasonless; Mustard keeps its shades free of trend cycles.
- Colour palette
- Slate and Chalk are the only neutral finishes; the other four are saturated accents.
- Assembly
- Buyers report a two-person build taking roughly 1 to 4 hours.
- Instructions
- Assembly video guides supplement paper instructions that print in English only.
- Packaging
- Arrives flat-packed in one box with all assembly hardware.
- Anchoring
- Mustard's own guide directs anchoring this cabinet to the wall, warning children have died from furniture toppling.
- Wall fixings
- No wall fixings ship with the cabinet; buyers must supply wall anchors suited to their wall type.
- Top load
- The 88 lb top carries about 60% more than a shelf, enough for a mid-size TV on a stand or one dense display piece.
- Weight distribution
- A 55 lb shelf takes about 20 wine bottles or a few cast-iron pieces; split a heavy set across both shelves.
- Room fit
- The family's alcove piece: 39.5 in high, 29.5 in wide, and 15.75 in deep at the same 40 cm depth as The Midi and Collector.
- Room role
- Intended as a vintage/elegant drinks cabinet, kitchen buffet, or sideboard for showing off glassware and serveware.
- Door closure
- Magnetic catches keep both doors shut even when unlocked, so daily use never needs the key.
- Key lock
- The same key locks both doors and comes on a custom Mustard enamel keyring; spare keys are not standard.
- Glass replacement
- A damaged door needs a whole new pane — tempered fluted glass cannot be cut or reworked on site.
- Interior lighting
- An interior lamp turns the fluted doors into a soft, even glow.
- Display intent
- Built to blur concealing and revealing — a drinks cabinet made to show off glassware.
- Colour choice
- Slate and Chalk are the neutrals; Sage Green, Poppy, Blush and Butter the accent tones.
- Retro style
- The Mixer is intentionally retro-styled with a 1970s-leaning look: fluted glass panels, medallion-style handles, and a powder-coated steel body in saturated retro tones create the vintage read, but it is best described as retro-inspired contemporary rather than a true '70s reproduction.
- Tempered glass safety
- The fluted glass doors and side panels are tempered safety glass, which breaks into small, dull-edged granular pieces; no specific ANSI or EN safety rating is published.

Showing off favorite items behind fluted glass
A sideboard-style cabinet for displaying pieces you'd rather not hide away, with three interior shelves set behind two fluted glass doors — think dinnerware, baskets, or decorative objects. Keep in mind the vertically ribbed glass softens and slightly obscures what's inside, revealing shapes and hints rather than a clear view.[1,2,3,4]
Storage for dishes and baskets behind glass doors
The Mixer sideboard's interior has three horizontal fixed shelves forming three storage bays, making it a fit for keeping stacked dishes and wire baskets in a dining room or kitchen. The fluted glass doors let you store items in view while adding some visual cover, and they swing fully open to expose the interior. Dishes and baskets shown in the product image are staged contents, not included with the piece.[2,3,4]
Storing heavy cookware in a small, tight kitchen
A Reddit commenter uses this sideboard to store their Le Creuset cast iron in a small kitchen, where they say they have bumped into it or hit it with things and still find it durable and well painted. They note their space is a calm studio apartment where they live alone, and say it still looks brand new.[5]

| The Mixer Glass Door Metallic Sideboard: Choose this if you want a freestanding sideboard-style cabinet for showing off favourite items behind two vertically fluted glass doors, with lockable doors, a separate key lock, two adjustable shelves, and adjustable slender metal legs. Made of powder-coated steel with a smooth matte finish, it measures 39.5 inches high, 29.5 inches wide, and 15.75 inches deep, holds up to 88 pounds on top and 55 pounds per shelf, and comes in one size across six colours including Slate, Chalk, Sage Green, Poppy, Blush, and Butter. Note that the fluted glass distorts and slightly obscures what is stored inside, and one reviewer who stores cast iron in it reports it still looks brand new and durable, though in a small, calm studio setting.[1,2,3,5] | The Collector Glass Door Standing Metallic Cabinet: Choose this if you want a tall freestanding display cabinet that shows off favourite items behind fluted glass doors, in Mustard's retro-elegant style. It is a powder-coated steel cabinet measuring 67 inches high by 33.5 inches wide by 15.75 inches deep, with four adjustable shelves (rated to 55 pounds each, 88 pounds on top), lockable doors with a separate key, adjustable legs, and brand-described quick assembly with instructions included. It comes in one size in six colours — Slate, White, Sage Green, Navy, Pink, and Butter — though note the fluted glass partially obscures what's inside rather than showing it clearly.[6,7] | The Lowdown Metallic Storage Cabinet: Choose this if you want a compact, low-slung steel cabinet for an office, living room, or bedroom: it measures 39.25 inches wide by 28.25 inches tall, has two doors opening to one open compartment with removable adjustable shelves, and can be anchored to the wall for added safety. It suits buyers who want keyed locks on both doors, back openings for cable organization, ventilation grills, a magnetic flat top, and a quick tool-light assembly, and it comes in Mustard's full range of 12 colours. Note that at under 3 feet tall it sits low — one commenter judged it too low for use as a coffee station, speculating the metal could rattle — and a customer reported some parts arriving dented, though the steel could be bent back into shape with pliers.[8,9,10,11,12,13,14] |

Comparison of Mustard locker to cheaper knockoff, finding similar quality
I have a mustard made one (in mustard color) and a cheaper knock off mentioned by another redditor above (in blush). Absolutely love them both, quality is the same despite large price difference. They’re such cheerful colors and the storage works great in my older home!

Positive review of Mustard cabinet for durability and aesthetics
It’s great. It still looks brand new. Granted, I am a single person in a studio apartment that is a calm space. I find it’s durable and painted well because I have bumped into it or hit it with things in my small kitchen. I am very satisfied with the quality and the look given that sometimes things that look great are not built for every day use.

Mixed review: loves the lockers but notes assembly can be frustrating
I have two "Shorty" lockers in my entryway. I love them, and am now looking at the Twinny for my clothes, and the Kit for my bathroom. As reviews suggest, assembly can be frustrating, but I (maybe the world's \*least" handy person) was ultimately able to put everything together myself relatively quickly.
