Product Insights
Luminaire Authentik's Danoise matte-black fixture is a handmade-in-Quebec (Cowansville) Nordic design that carries one minimalist look from interior accent walls to exterior porches, with a cULus rating and -40°C to 85°C rain, wind, frost, snow and ice tests proving its weather resilience. The dedicated exterior coating (not relabeled indoor paint) and screwless canopy aim to protect the finish at the typical chip point, while the frosted globe hides a replaceable, dimmable 7W E26 LED that emits a soft 2700K, 530-lumen glow—accent-level light best for hallways, vestibules, and tight spaces rather than whole rooms. Its 5-inch plate covers a standard 4-inch junction box, it projects 5.5 inches from the wall, and it is positioned as contract-grade for hotels and offices as well as homes, yet because it's hand-assembled to order delivery takes 1–2 weeks, and outdoor bulb replacements must also be water-rated dimmable LEDs.
Verified claims
- Weather testing
- No numeric IP code; exterior rating rests on cULus and -40°C to 85°C rain, wind, frost, snow, and ice tests.
- Exterior finish
- Outdoor-rated matte black is a dedicated exterior coating, not the interior black finish reused.
- Outdoor dimming
- The water-rated 7W LED is tested to operate from -40°C to 85°C, with dimming and startup reliable in cold weather, and is replaceable; outdoor replacements must also be water-rated.
- Finish durability
- Screwless canopy hides mounting fasteners at the wall seam, the typical first chip point on exterior matte black
- Craftsmanship
- Designed, engineered and handmade to order in Quebec by Luminaire Authentik — its own Nordic line, not a licensed import.
- Collection family
- Luminaire Authentik's best-selling Danoise collection is marketed as timeless and spans pendant, ceiling and wall fixtures.
- Commercial grade
- Danoise line is positioned as commercial lighting for hotels, offices and retail, not only homes.
- Use cases
- Frosted globe glows evenly, so this matte black fixture keeps its minimalist Nordic look indoors and outdoors.
- Handmade production
- Designed, engineered, and hand-made in Cowansville, Quebec, one lamp at a time.
- Made to order
- Hand-assembled after ordering; ships in 1–2 weeks.
- Local sourcing
- Raw materials are sourced within 30 km of the factory wherever possible.
- Workshop origin
- Designed, engineered and manufactured 100% in Luminaire Authentik's Cowansville, Quebec workshop.
- Brightness
- At 530 lumens, one fixture gives accent-level light rather than whole-room illumination.
- Light quality
- 2700K bulb and frosted diffuser create a soft, dimmable candle-like glow.
- Dimmer compatibility
- Dimmable bulb works with standard residential dimmers; no specific dimmer model required.
- Dimmer range
- At full brightness the fixture gives 530 lumens of warm accent light; dimming lowers it to a faint glow, not task light.
- Bulb replacement
- Replaceable standard E26 LED; outdoors, choose a water-rated dimmable bulb.
- Junction box fit
- 5-inch plate covers a standard 4-inch octagonal or round recessed box without gaps.
- Projection
- Projects 5.5 in (14 cm) from wall when mounted.
- Safety
- cULus listed to applicable UL and CSA standards for permanent indoor/outdoor installation in the U.S. and Canada.
- Dual indoor/outdoor use
- Rated for indoor and outdoor use; mounts as a wall sconce or a ceiling fixture.
- Minimalist interior accent
- Frosted globe spreads a soft 2700K light evenly, with no visible bulb, for minimalist rooms.
- Lumen output
- 530 lm suits hallways, vestibules, and porches; an open room needs more than one unit.
- Mounting hardware
- The fixture ships with gloves and an installation guide, and mounting hardware for both wall and ceiling configurations is typically included; buyers should confirm the parts against the instruction sheet when it arrives.
- Glass globe durability
- The frosted opal globe is not specified as tempered or shatter-resistant; the fixture is weather-tested against rain, wind, frost, snow, and ice, but the glass should be handled carefully during installation and cleaning.
- Certification standard
- The available product specs do not call out the specific UL/CSA standard number for the cULus listing, such as UL 1598.
- Hardwired installation
- The Danoise is a hardwired fixture with no cord or plug; it mounts through the included canopy and is intended for installation by a certified electrician.
- Material composition
- The Danoise body is aluminum with a baked-paint finish and a frosted opal glass globe.
- Included LED bulb
- The fixture includes a 7W LED bulb that produces 530 lumens at 2700K warm white and is dimmable.
- Coastal corrosion resistance
- The aluminum body and baked-paint finish provide inherent corrosion resistance, but the listing does not claim a marine or salt-air rating; in coastal settings, regular cleaning and prompt attention to any chipped finish are the sensible safeguards.
- UV and finish durability
- The matte black finish is baked paint, rated from -40°C to 85°C and tested against rain, wind, frost, snow and ice; specific UV-fade or chalking behavior is not published, though baked and powder coatings are among the most fade-resistant outdoor finishes.

Audiences, workflows, and fit — dual_indoor_outdoor_homeowner
For the homeowner who wants one matte black Danoise outside and indoors, the 0905 listing confirms the fixture is rated for indoor and outdoor use with a waterproof 7W 2700K LED, and the product data adds that the 24 cm version mounts as a wall sconce or ceiling light and is tested against -40°C to 85°C rain, wind, frost, snow, and ice; that makes it a single weather-spec fixture across both placements rather than a separate wet-location outdoor model.[1]
Audiences, workflows, and fit — minimalist_interior_homeowner
For the minimalist interior homeowner, Danoise's own collection page frames the fixture as Nordic design that 'sets the desired mood' and blends into minimalist spaces in wall or ceiling mount; on the 24 cm matte black version, the 12.5 cm frosted opal globe and 2700K LED make the job a soft architectural accent rather than a task light, which fits a clean room that should feel warm without visual clutter.[2]
