Product Insights
Snoc's Evolution Short Cylindrical Wall Sconce is a hardwired 120V cast-aluminum fixture on a junction-box backplate, sold at 137 CAD in four in-stock colors — Greige, Hazelnut, Pine/Bottle Green and Terracotta — all one size at one price, made to order in Quebec where it has been cast, powder-coated and assembled under one roof since 1954, with about two weeks before it ships. Its defining point of view is downward-only light: a capped top and recessed medium-base socket (75W max, A19 or PAR-30) produce no uplight or side spill, so the fixture is designed to mount low and run in spaced rows on entryway, patio, garage and perimeter walls to wash the wall below — the tradeoff being glare when mounted high and a bulb that must itself be damp- or wet-rated, since the wet listing covers only the housing, though the replaceable bulb lets beam and color be changed later. The cast aluminum alloy A-356 or A-413, held under 0.2% copper to resist outdoor oxidation and built to commercial grade with Intertek CSA/UL certification, carries a UV-resistant polyester or polyurethane powder coat backed by a lifetime aluminum warranty, a five-year finish guarantee and replacement parts for at least 25 years. The core costs of that spec are finish-related and installation-related: small-batch spraying means color can shift between runs, so matched pairs should be bought in one order; dark and rich tones chalk and fade under UV ahead of Greige; the supplied mounting hardware is reported insufficient, with customer-supplied anchors or spacers needed over wood siding, stucco or brick; and the powder coat tolerates only a soft damp cloth, not cleaners or abrasives.
Verified claims
- Light distribution
- Emits downward-only light from the tube's bottom opening — no uplight or side-spill — so the half-cylinder behaves as a shielded downlight rather than a balanced two-way wall wash.
- Placement
- Best for entryway, patio, garage and perimeter walls, where the downward light washes the wall below.
- Bulb protection
- The downward aperture keeps the bulb recessed and out of direct rain.
- Serviceability
- Runs a replaceable medium-base bulb, so the beam and color can be swapped later.
- Mounting hardware
- Mounts to a standard junction box, but buyers report the supplied hardware is insufficient.
- Lead time
- Made to order in Quebec; allow about two weeks before it ships.
- Finish consistency
- Powder-coated in small batches, so buy a matching pair together as the finish can vary between batches.
- Certification
- Intertek-certified to CSA and UL standards, the basis of its commercial-grade rating.
- Warranty
- Lifetime warranty on aluminum parts, a five-year finish guarantee and spare parts for 25 years.
- Corrosion resistance
- Cast from aluminum alloy A-356 or A-413 with under 0.2% copper to resist outdoor oxidation.
- Finish care
- Wipe the powder coat with a soft damp cloth only; harsh cleaners and abrasives damage it.
- Color options
- Greige, Hazelnut, Pine/Bottle Green and Terracotta are all one size at the same 137 CAD and in stock.
- Weather resistance
- Weather-resistant, indoor/outdoor sconce listed Wet Rated for full outdoor exposure to rain and moisture; no numeric IP rating is published.
- Bulb choice
- Compatible with a single A19 or PAR-30 bulb up to 75W; no bulb is included. On an exposed exterior wall, use a damp- or wet-location-rated bulb because the fixture's wet rating covers only the housing.
- Finish durability
- Corrosion-resistant cast aluminum alloy (A-356 or A-413 with under 0.2% copper) under a UV-resistant polyester or polyurethane powder coat, warranted five years against chipping and fade.
- Commercial grade
- Cast-aluminum body built to commercial grade and Intertek-certified to CSA and UL standards.
- Material class
- Cast aluminum built to the same spec-grade class as HCI's F362 and WAC's Chamber.
- Manufacturing
- Designed and made in Quebec by Snoc, a cast-aluminum exterior lighting manufacturer founded in 1954.
- Hardwiring
- Hardwired 120V fixture on a junction-box backplate — no cord or plug.
- Mounting surface
- Over wood siding, stucco or brick it needs customer-supplied anchors or spacers
- Wall wash
- Capped top fires light down only, unlike half-cylinder sconces that wash up and down.
- Color aging
- Terracotta and Pine chalk visibly before Greige or Hazelnut in direct sun.
- Dimmable
- Dimmable when used with a dimmable bulb and a compatible regular or universal dimmer; no proprietary bulb type is required.

Warm accent lighting for entryways and patios
This half-cylinder sconce suits covered outdoor spots like a wall beside sliding glass doors or an entryway, where its weather-resistant powder-coated cast aluminum build and downward-facing design cast warm light over decks and garden areas. The same modern, natural-toned fixture can also be used indoors, such as on a wall next to a mirror or tiled area. An installation guide is included, and the merchant recommends installation by a certified electrician.[2,3,4]
Warm downward light on indoor or outdoor walls
This short cylindrical sconce casts light only downward, producing a warm wash on the wall below it, so it suits accent lighting beside a doorway, along a brick exterior, or on an interior wall in the evening. In photos, its closed top and open bottom create a soft cone of warm light with gentle shadows on brick and deck at dusk or night.[1,3,4,5]
