Product Insights
This matte cement candleholder from Simons Maison, priced at 18 CAD and in stock, offers a raw, unique finish with visible pits and tonal variations. It fits 2-inch and 3-inch pillar candles. The core tradeoff: its unsealed porosity readily absorbs melted wax, so sealing is recommended to prevent stains, while unsealed use requires careful wax removal with heat and a plastic scraper. Though best used indoors, outdoor use is possible with sealing to prevent moisture damage.

Deep Research
How to care for a cement candle holder
- Wax drips lift away cleanly from the travertine-textured cement when you apply low, dry heat — a hairdryer on low or an iron over paper towels — because the heat melts wax into an absorbent layer instead of forcing it deeper into the porous surface, so the holder's raw matte finish stays intact through repeated use.
- Before heating, gently skim away hardened drips with a plastic scraper rather than metal — even a small scratch can create channels that trap wax deeper in the cement, so the right tool preserves the candleholder's sculptural precision for years.

Q&A
4 answered- What size pillar candles does this holder accommodate?
- This holder has a 3.5-inch (9 cm) diameter opening, so it fits pillar candles up to about 3 inches in diameter comfortably. Standard 2-inch and 3-inch pillar candles work well.
- Is the cement surface sealed or porous? Will it absorb melted wax or stain easily?
- The listing doesn't specify if the cement is sealed. Cement is naturally porous and can absorb melted wax, which may stain. Many crafters recommend applying a sealant to make cleanup easier and protect the surface [9].
- Is the cement finish matte or glossy? Does it have visible texture variations like natural travertine?
- The finish is matte, not glossy. The textured cement is designed to have a raw, natural look with visible variations, resembling travertine stone.
- Can this candleholder be used outdoors or only indoors?
- This candleholder is best used indoors. The foam pads on the bottom protect surfaces but may degrade outdoors, and unsealed cement can be damaged by moisture. For outdoor use, we'd recommend sealing the cement first.
