Product Insights

The Quilted Stripes Duvet from Simons Maison offers a $120 CAD, pet-hair-resistant cotton quilt with dimensional topstitched texture that can be used as a summer-weight solo cover or a warm mid-layer in fall, but tradeoffs include light shades that fade and yellow after washing, dye transfer when damp, narrow twin and full sizes, and visible panel seams on some units.

Texture

Topstitching creates a dimensional texture that resists pet hair.

Why this is supported

The topstitching creates a distinctive feel:

creating a dimensional 'high-low' texture that makes the duvet more visually and physically engaging than a flat-printed blanket.Topstitching technique and texture appeal — quilted_texture_interplay

Additionally, a buyer notes a practical benefit:

The dog hair doesn't attach to it as easily as it did to our duvet.Customer review, January 16, 2026
White option

On White, tone-on-tone stitching stays crisp; fabric may yellow.

Why this is supported

On the White variant, the stitching is intentionally subtle:

topstitching is generally done using a straight stitch with a thread that matches the fashion fabric.en.wikipedia.org

This creates a tone-on-tone effect. However, buyer experience indicates a caveat:

I purchased the cream and the colour faded immediately in the first wash, leaving patches of white and cream colour.Customer review, June 26, 2026
Care

Light shades fade and yellow after one wash; dark shades keep their color.

Why this is supported

Buyer reports show that light shades are prone to fading:

the colour faded immediately in the first wash, leaving patches of white and cream colourCustomer review, June 26, 2026

whereas darker shades like muted green hold up: a buyer noted the product

washes very wellCustomer review, September 25, 2025

. This tradeoff is central to the garment-dyed aesthetic.

Dye transfer

Dye can transfer to skin or fabrics when damp.

Why this is supported

One caveat:

The garment dye can transfer to skin or fabrics when damp—some users found color on their fingers after touching the blanket.gotcha

This is especially relevant for light-colored bedding or direct skin contact when the duvet is damp.

Fit

Twin runs ~8 narrower than typical; king size drapes generously.

Why this is supported

Customer reviews indicate that the twin-size duvet is narrower than typical. One reviewer notes:

Twin and full sizes run about 8 inches narrower than typical coverlets; they won't drape over the sides of a standard mattress as shown online.gotcha

At 65 inches wide, the twin duvet is indeed narrower than many standard coverlets. Conversely, the king-size duvet at 107 inches delivers ample overhang. Another review highlights the practical advantage of the twin's dimensions for tucking:

The single tucks in nicely on the sides of a twin, and it is quite long too.Customer review, September 25, 2025

This versatility means the twin can be used as a coverlet or a tuck-in layer, though on deep mattresses it may not reach the rails and is better suited as a topper.

Sizing

King size offers generous drape; twin and full sizes run about 8 inches narrower than standard coverlets.

Why this is supported

Catalog verified sizing: King provides ample drape for standard deep mattresses, but

twin and full sizes run narrow—leaving mattress sides exposedtheme

, making them more decorative toppers than full coverage quilts.

Seasonal use

No fill makes it a summer-weight blanket; buyers use it as a solo cover in warm weather or a layer under a heavier duvet in fall.

Why this is supported

This duvet has no fill, making its warmth comparable to a summer blanket or lightweight throw, so it is best for layering or mild seasons.

warm enough for FallCustomer review, September 25, 2025

— and buyers confirm they use it as a solo cover in summer or a layer under a heavier duvet in fall and winter, providing cozy warmth without overheating.

Warmth and weight

Buyers find it medium-weight and warm for fall despite the lightweight label, due to trapped air in quilted channels.

Why this is supported

Reviewers describe the duvet as

nice medium weight and it isn't bulkyCustomer review, January 16, 2026

and

warm enough for FallCustomer review, September 25, 2025

, despite the 'lightweight' label. The topstitching creates puffed strips that trap air for added warmth, effectively substituting for fill in a lighter package.

Colorfastness

Buyers note light colors fade unevenly after first wash and dye bleeds when damp.

Why this is supported

Colorfastness concerns on lighter colorways: one buyer of the cream variant reported

I purchased the cream and the colour faded immediately in the first wash, leaving patches of white and cream colour.Customer review, June 26, 2026

A separate theme notes

dye can bleed onto skintheme
Hand feel

Soft, medium-weight quilted cotton with lasting dimensional texture.

Why this is supported

Buyer reviews confirm the cotton is soft and medium-weight. One reviewer states:

Good quality cotton, washes very well, and warm enough for Fall.Customer review, September 25, 2025

The quilted texture is created by topstitching, defined as

Topstitching is a sewing technique where the line of stitching is designed to be seen from the outside of the garment, either decorative or functional.en.wikipedia.org

The same review's note that it 'washes very well' supports that the texture and softness endure after washing.

Pet hair resistance

Buyers report the quilted cotton surface resists pet hair.

Why this is supported

A buyer shared:

The dog hair doesn't attach to it as easily as it did to our duvet.Customer review, January 16, 2026

. This indicates the quilted cotton surface resists clinging pet hair.

Temperature regulation

Buyers report the cotton is warm enough for Fall without overheating.

Why this is supported

Reviews mention the cotton provides comfortable warmth for fall. One buyer states

warm enough for FallCustomer review, September 25, 2025

, suggesting comfortable warmth without overheating.

Panel seams

Buyers report visible horizontal seams on some duvet covers.

Why this is supported

Buyer reviews include reports of visible horizontal panel seams on some covers of this duvet, a construction detail that is not shown in the product photos. These accounts indicate that the surface uniformity can be interrupted by horizontal lines where fabric panels are joined, potentially affecting the visual consistency expected from a quilted design.

Stripe pattern

Topstitched stripes create a permanent, low-profile dimensional texture.

Why this is supported

The stripe pattern is created by topstitching, a construction technique defined as:

Topstitching is a sewing technique where the line of stitching is designed to be seen from the outside of the garment, either decorative or functional.en.wikipedia.org

This ensures the pattern is structurally inherent and permanent. Between the stitched lines, the fabric puffs up, as described:

Between the flat topstitched lines, the strips of quilting puff up with lightweight loft, creating a dimensional 'high-low' textureTopstitching technique and texture appeal — quilted_texture_interplay

This produces a low-profile texture. On the White variant, the thread matches the fabric, giving a subtle embossed appearance. Wikipedia states that topstitching is often done with matching thread:

Otherwise, topstitching is generally done using a straight stitch with a thread that matches the fashion fabric.en.wikipedia.org
Construction

Unfilled lightweight duvet with one-sided pattern and anti-shift quilting.

Why this is supported

The duvet's pattern is not reversible;

the striped pattern appears on one side, with the reverse likely being a solid color. Are the stripes woven into the fabric or printed? Does the pattern appear on both sides, or is one side solid?

Additionally, the topstitched quilting serves a functional purpose:

The quilting is done with topstitched stripes and strips of quilting, which typically helps keep the layers in place. Is the quilting sewn in a way that prevents the batting from shifting over time? Are there any known durability issues with the stitch pattern?

The duvet is also unfilled, contributing to its lightweight feel suitable for warm-weather use.

Stripe design

Topstitched stripes create dimensional texture and the duvet reverses for two distinct looks.

Why this is supported

The topstitching technique creates a visible line that adds texture and depth, making the duvet suitable for minimalist and boho decor.

Topstitching is a sewing technique where the line of stitching is designed to be seen from the outside of the garment, either decorative or functional.en.wikipedia.org

The duvet is reversible, offering a solid-color side for a different look, though some users report that the panel seams where the three fabric panels join are visible and can distract from a seamless appearance.

Value

At $120 CAD, it costs less than half of comparable premium quilts.

Why this is supported

This duvet is priced at $120 CAD, well below premium direct-to-consumer brands. For instance, comparable quilts from Parachute are priced at

Price: $259sleepfoundation.org

and from Snowe at $345.

Brand positioning

Simons Maison exclusive: designed in Canada, made in Korea, $120 CAD — half the price of premium DTC quilts.

Why this is supported

The product description confirms the duvet is designed in Canada, made in Korea, and exclusive to Simons. Verified price comparison with premium DTC quilts:

Price: $259sleepfoundation.org

(Parachute),

Price: $279sleepfoundation.org

(Brooklinen),

Price: $345sleepfoundation.org

(Snowe), and

$99.90quince.com

(Quince). The Simons Maison duvet at $120 CAD is roughly half the price of the Parachute, Brooklinen, and Snowe quilts, and also undercuts Quince's organic cotton quilt.

Design details

Topstitched stripes create permanent dimensional pattern; quilt is lightweight year-round layer.

Why this is supported

The pattern uses topstitching, defined as

Topstitching is a sewing technique where the line of stitching is designed to be seen from the outside of the garment, either decorative or functional.en.wikipedia.org

This ensures the pattern is built into the fabric and won't fade. The quilting creates a subtle dimensional texture. The duvet's unlined construction makes it suitable as a lightweight layer year-round.

Versatility

Unfilled quilted design makes it a breathable summer blanket and a warm mid-layer for fall and winter.

Why this is supported
essentially a quilted blanket rather than a filled duvet, making it suitable for year-round use as a lightweight layer or for summerWhat is the fill material inside the quilting, and is this duvet suitable for year-round use or primarily for summer?

. The quilted strips create subtle loft that traps air, boosting insulation without bulk, and the lightweight construction allows compact storage. Reviewers also repurpose it as a couch throw.

Belle couleur !

Too narrow

Randall D.

I bought this blanket o fit a twin bed. It is about 8 inches too narrow. Does not have enough width to hang down as pictured. Chatge $ 5 more and provide a blanket that fits!

Fits the bed perfectly

Claire S.

The colour looks great with our red hardwood and yellow walls. The material is a nice medium weight and it isn't bulky like our old duvet. The dog hair doesn't attach to it as easily as it did to our duvet.

Exactly what I wanted!

Kelly V.

Nice and thick but not too hot at night & love the washed /garment dyed colour. Seems like great quality so far. Feels like one of those quilts like your grandma might pass down to you. Love it!.

Beautiful colour and material

Everything is great about this duvet besides the way that it stains a bit due to how it was coloured. Should be fine after a wash or two

Perfect!

I like the muted green, a very calming colour. Good quality cotton, washes very well, and warm enough for Fall. The single tucks in nicely on the sides of a twin, and it is quite long too. Neat look. I am very satisfied with my purchase

Satisfaite!

Lou-Gabrielle V.

I bought this to replace our old blanket from L. E. which really was made of 100% thick cotton. This blanket/quilt has a label that says it’s pure cotton but it is NOT. It feels like it’s made out of plastic materials and about 30% cotton. Please L. E. stop accepting products with fake labels and go back to selling products that are truly made of 100% thick cotton.

The texture was not quite what I was expecting, but it does look nice and keeps me at the right temperature on warm summer nights. Quality is very good, like all Simons products. Wish it was a few centimetres wider, to drape more on the bed sides.

Nice weight and fabric but colours faded

Tina L.

The quilted coverlet was a nice light weight and the fabric was soft. I purchased the cream and the colour faded immediately in the first wash, leaving patches of white and cream colour. It was disappointing to see that happen so quickly after just receiving the coverlet.

OK but has unexpected seams

David B.

It is a pretty nice bedspread, but unfortunately it is constructed of 3 panels sewn together with very visible seams. These were not visible in the product web page but looked awful on the bed, so we are returning it.

Nice, light and good quality

Alla K.

Nice, light and good quality quilt. I was surprised seeing it in monochrome as on site it looks ombré or with thick stripes which would be way more interesting. Deceived by photo but still liking it.

Beautiful

This was on the pricier end for me, but when I saw it I just had to order it. The colour is beautiful and it's a nice weight. I really love it.

Beautiful cover , light weight, but warm. Nice texture, good quality. Blue colour is lovely !

Looks great

Barry M.

This is what I pictured in my mind when I started my search for a new blanket. The quality and colour are great. Sizing true. 1 issue, however is stitching on either side at about the spot the blanket folds over my king size mattress. It’s not unsightly. I assume it’s because the material used isn’t king size wide enough and they had to join additional material. just wish it didn’t have it.
